Well the forks are all rebuilt and back in 😁 I striped and rebuilt the front calipers with a powerhouse rebuild kit with stainless bolts and slider pins, (can’t recommend them enough very good service) the more I look at the rgv bits the more I think they have not done a lot of miles as it’s all in good nick with next to no signs of corrosion just been stood for most of there life Only issue I had was the brake pot leaked after I bleed them, looks like it cracked when I undid the lid retaining screw, found a pattern one on eBay for £11 I have spent the last week working through the electrics and making everything work 🤔 Nearly there now thankfully just waiting on some indicators to turn up so I can rewrap the loom, the whole bike has been sprayed with some form of oil to protect it, so everything is greasy/slippery but it’s made the loom tape fall off in chunks so that’s next when I have fully checked it’s all working

Well a lot has changed since may 2021 😳 Can't believe it's that long since I updated this, I got the bike togeather running ready for the mot in the august and then had a running fault, it was cutting out under load, after changing the stator running extra earths, cleaning the carbs many times I finally changed the Cdi for a zeeltronic unit, and now had a running bike😁 half a mile latter I had a crank seal go causing a huge smoke trail on the right cylinder and then the bloody throttle cable snapped on the left, meaning I had to push it home😬, I shut the door on it in may 2022 for a while till I made a plan. I needed to to a full rebuild on the motor and there was no way I could ride it with the rgv clip ons, I didn't like the mishmash of clocks held together by bent bits of tin and with up right bars there would be no way of seeing them anyway And when I opened the door the pattern fork seals were leaking 😳 So over winter 2022 I set about getting it done, but was so bloody cold in the garage it was slow progress So I set about putting genuine fork seals in
And converted the top yoke to take handle bar risers
When I stripped the motor down I found that it had been rebuilt as stated in the ad when I bought it but it was min of 10years ago,the head had a lot of ring damage and had been skimmed a lot, the right hand side case was cracked and leaking and one gear tooth had bad pitting/case Harding gone So I set about ammasing all the bits needed to put it together properly Will stick some pictures up when tap talk works

After buying bits and pieces from all over the shop (Norbo/mutts/eBay )I had everything I needed for the rebuild, I put all new gearbox bearings in with a excellent condition 2nd gear( supplied by a very generous forum member) and a new gear change shaft, a Hot rod crank went in with the barrels having a trip to martin Johnson, and a second hand head that was skimmed, the barrels and head got creakoted, a new side case with all new parts (water pump/oil pump drive gears ect)went on the side, So I now had a engine, I bought a pair of pwk28’s and stuck new jets/floats ect in them Then added that to some martin Johnson pipes I stuck a pit bike kick start on to replace the banshee one it came with that rattled even after a rebuild kit And then it was the koso and that’s where it’s at now, I fired it up for a few minutes and it sounds good( need to remove the insulated wall we build of front of the garage door, just got too Smokey in no time)

Looking good.
I'm also amazed you're going at about the same pace as me!
I looked at the same Koso clock too - interested to see it all lit up!

It was a toss up between these or the rx2+, availability was the final choice as I had missed them both last time they came in stock so when they came in this time I jumped on the web site to grab it, will get some pics this weekend

Yes the foot peg is snapped,it came with a cobbled togearher set up so I got a set off eBay to try and 1st time I kicked it over and caught the peg and bang heading off across the floor That’s a very kind offer but I have a set of new F2 ones coming from Norbo as all the bits I have are all a little poor

I really love this bike with the clip-ons but, completely understand why you have gone for flat bars.
Still a great looking bike!

Nice job!
Good choice on stripping the motor right down and doing it properly. I usually enjoy working on my bikes, but not when I have no confidence in the prior owners work.
It should fly now!

Well I have been ticking off all the small little jobs that were left to do, like tidy up the wiring around the headlight and the bracket for the clocks/headlight Check the oil pump minimum stroke ect as it’s a new pump, fit the new foot pegs from Norbo And fit the carbon front mudguard I bought years ago And today I took it for a small test run up the road to make sure it’s ok 😁 and it runs well( only rev to 6k to let the rings start to bed in) very smooth and seamed to want to pull on, so have to book a mot now Cheers Jimmy

Well it failed the mot☹️ on No rear foot pegs, no rear reflector 🙄 and the head light gave no pattern what so ever just a blob( mot man said he has only seen a couple of the led ones that will pass) . So a geto single seat conversion swapping a old Lc headlight in and sticking a reflector on gave me a pass( just had a slight issue with crap fuel hose expanding and poping off one carb dumping fuel everywhere, thankfully while it was sat ticking over) I also added some small bar end mirrors as I don’t care to ride with out any, left hand one is perfect but can’t see a bloody thing out of the right so needs some adjusting Next up is give it a bloody good clean(had to rain on the way back from the retest) And then try to fully set up the koso, the speedo has been a little fickle to get right, mostly down to it being a active speed sensor needing equal shaped/spaced holes to read off, the standard rgv disks have one small pass area the sensor can get this from and it’s a very small margin for error, and me setting the air gap to big gave a very random reading over 30( managed to use a couple of the road side speed check signs to check it’s good😁) And the gear display needs setting but need to be able to use the full rev range for that

Good to hear you got an MOT! That single seat conversion is an excellent idea. Are you keeping it? Alex
