I've always considered myself fit. Skinny really, 30" waist and pretty flexible so clip ons and rear sets are fine by me. However during the last year with no work at all (that's where I get my exercise) I have piled on 2 stone and now look like the Goodyear blimp from certain angles. It's pissing me off. So last night I decided to go jogging. Never done this before so I thought a quick run to the post box and back, about a mile. After 15 seconds of this I thought my heart was going to explode so I started walking...then a bit more running, then walking etc. Got home totally knackered and in agony.
Went out again today. Did a lot better. Ran nearly all the way, and even put a spurt on to impress another rather attractive female joggerette coming the other way. Still hurt, but slightly less so. Going to keep this up and slowly go further distances.
Wish I hadn't sold my mountain bike now as that thing kept me as fit a a butcher's dog. Walked past a bike shop the other day and the prices are frightening! Even eBay has silly prices for anything half decent. If anyone is selling a bike let me know!

You only need to run if you are a burglar or rely on buses!

Jogging can literal be the death of you.....a la James Hunt style.... So if you haven’t done it regularly before...be careful.... As I know Alex a little, most of his description seems plausible.....but no mention of having to stop for a roll up....contrary to the ads in the 50s, smoking doesn’t help develop lung capability😂
My advice would be....give up the cigs as step one !

Never go jogging, worst thing you can do to your bodies joints, run or walk fast, jogging puts lots of stress on your joints. Normally only real reason to run is from aggrieved or disgruntled husbands, and years ago fathers

Lunatic 2 stroke riders wheeling past and boy racers in pimped up corsa's Stay on the sofa

I'll never own a dog or go running
Have you noticed it's always a jogger or dog walker that find dead bodies 😆

I stopped running about a year ago, bad knee due to operation finally caught up felt like glass shards in joint over a mile, so no thanks to that, if you keep it up little bits at a time it will get better, but running us harder when not used to it and the hardest way to loose those pounds or stones mate, it will wreck you at first, but all about not giving in,,

And out again tonight. Faster run this time and even though it's 0c out there I worked up a sweat. Weighed myself when I got home and now lost 5 pounds in all. Beginning to enjoy this. It's quiet and I like the sense of isolation the night gives me. Plus I get to see foxes...and some are female joggers lol.

Since they shut the pubs during all the lockdowns the lack of beer and late night food has resulted in the loss of 2 stone (13stone now) without trying any of that exercise stuff but i did find myself looking at a Trek 3 Series that someone is selling locally on Gumtree. I'm hoping the urge/boredom doesn't get worse before they open the bear Gardens as that will stop it all these silly ideas.

Half the ruddy nation seems to have taken homebrewing up... suppliers always seem to be short of stock!! And plenty of tutorials on youtube on curries and Chinese cooking, so you really have no excuse to loose weight.

I only drink in Pubs, drinking in the house just doesn't taste the same plus the wife is at home. Thankfully the Trek sold so i'll just have to carry on with the loft conversion.

Try spending a couple of days doing a full car detail, inside, outside, full decon, compound, polish and seal. That will test your fitness and is far better than any run for the whole body. Keeps you toned all over but if you have bad knees, scrap that and stick to biking.👍
