So reading the post in the Wanted Section it seems any bike imported prior to Brexit is now liable for Vat! I've been building mine for ages and never gave it a thought. So what value will they charge the VAT on? anybody got more info on this? I have the original German logbook and an out of date NOVA.
Phil

I think as long as it was declared on nova within 14 days of arrival
It’s then got no time limit to get it registered

That's fine then, I read it that the NOVA expires. Mine was about 3 years ago that it was imported. Phew.... I can relax. Phil

I think between us we should try to find out the official answer.

Tax paid or assessed and no tax to pay should be it
Not like your P60's expire
Do they not say we have to keep tax records for 5 years. That wouldn't work if a NOVA "expired"

I would think that anyone importing and/or doing a nova on a euro bike since Jan 1 2021 could well be subject to VAT. Any nova before this should be ok as the nova is only issued once any vat or or taxes have been paid.

When i imported a car in 2000 to the UK I was told to always keep the import paperwork including the tax paid info, 'just in case'. Seems that is still valid advice.
