Its amazing stuff, I use it for eveything now. Cleans aluminium really well without discolouring. Also great for cleaning plugs on wiring looms.

Hi, Fallopian tubing is quite good as well. Have sent a few apprentices for 3 feet of that, but they always seem to come back empty handed though ! Steven.

The bike trade was always piston return springs and bags of compression. In the late 80โs/ early 90โs as computers were coming on line our stock was often checked and some wags entered part numbers for them.

Ive heard lads being sent for 'a long stand'. The parts guy would tell them to stand to the side of the counter while he looked for it and keep saying 'should have it in a minute'. 20mins later he'd say 'youve had it!'.

I actually fell for that one as an apprentice maintenance fitter. I thought it was to support long pieces of steel when being cut in a mechanical saw. Doh! ๐

My worse experience as a mechanics starting a new job - it was suggested I go and ask the sprayer about his mums piano lessons. Being new I thought this would ingratiate me to him so promptly dropped into the conversation "hows your mums piano lessons?" To which said sprayer gave me a fierce look and said "are you taking the P155, my mums got no arms". They kept the windup going for the day, I believed it and felt like 5hit for hours - Probably be done for cruelty today!

Only one that I can remember that has not been mentioned was to fetch a bucket of steam from the stores, all of the above would probably get you a disciplinary now !

Ours were too
Either bare crocks or 20mm uninsulated probes
No safety either. No on off switch, just a push button in the middle

Bag of sparks for the angle grinder, bubble for the spirit level ๐ Oh the days ๐ Steve Window bricks, tyre nails, shed matches. I have a pot of some kitchen cleaner thats in the form of a solidish paste, used with a toothbrush, it's great on parts like carbs.... not bad on oven tops either!
