My mate Simon, who is building an RS250/YPVS385 Hybrid, decided he wants a nice cruising road bike, so he got himself another YPVS engine off Botty in bits, and I let him have my scruffy damaged trackbike 4L1 frame, as it has a V5, but needs work. He straightens and fixes cars for a living, so straightening a bike was not too much of an issue for him. This is the frame to start with.

The frame had been repaired in the past. The one side rail was a few mm longer than the other. He cleaned up the repairs and found they were poorly brazed, as it came apart with some heat and some force. He cleaned it up and with the aid of a good rear sub frame, he has got it bang on now. Being welded up today.

A frame is always a good start!

Nice work! I love it when in the modern world these bikes that had some iffy repairs long in the past get things redone properly.

I think this was the best way to sort this one out, as it would not have been fixable just by jigging. Will get some more pics when I next pop over.

I went to my auxiliary stash to look for some 41mm forks for Simon. I thought I had two pairs of 3MA forks, but when I checked through them, there were 5 pairs! I think he can use one of the spare pairs. He also got some Fazer yokes for £14 delivered off eBay. Looking at XJR400 rear wheel.

Not sure about the colour scheme! I was going for the "United colours of Benetton" type look... :-)

Simon decided he wants to put some standard looking stripes on in a non-standard colour, and since he likes Aston Villa, he fancies Claret/Blue stripes. Anyone seen this done before?

Got his clock mounts welded on his top yoke. Bolted some LC clocks on to check and it looks good :-)

That's great news! Never seen an ignition switch like that on an LC...

Now the stand is straight, it is pretty close to OEM size and angle. Works as it should and clears everything, so all good :-)

Simon changed his mind on the colour scheme. Ended up with a nice paint job from Mark Cordwell.
