I would like to start a vote if you don’t mind , I have 2 RD125LC, at the moment I have both sets of body work being sprayed , I have sand blasted all the bits like kick start , foot rests etc but I am stuck on what to do , olive green as original or black ?

Depends what you want from the finished bike! Standard as you would have bought it or how you want it to look.

If you can find Olive Green it looks right, not just looks original, but looks like more care has been taken. My local coatings place has never done it. So I've had kick starters and rad caps etc done in the Yellow passivat,e and put them on non original rebuilds or cosmetic specials. To me black will look like it's been painted out of a rattle can like the old days 'restos' we saw on ebay and always needed doing again lol. Ive also had whole front footpeg assembly done in yellow like the spring is originally, then paint the bracket black afterwards. Otherwise you have to drill the pin out to colour them separately with plating
Here you can see kickstarter, rad cap and brake pedal (resting on stand) in yellow, as I get a good deal.

Here's another similar bike, but with non original decals. The wheels were temporary for my daughter to call 'her bike'
I threw all the green bits in a bucket and asked for yellow passivate
From green to yellow:- Bar end weights -Rad cap - kickstarter - engine bolts - front footpegs - rear foopeg holders, (didnt bother painting the brackets black)

thanks mate , my local plating company does the olive green its called olive drab, just a bit concerned if it is going to be the right colour olive green , he did say though it is the same , and yes i think it does look a bit tatty when in black , i have seen many bikes now with black bits and some original green , it doesn't look right it should be either one or the other
was the rad cap originally green then ?

yes Rad cap is green.
Does your guy deal with mail-in work? or whereabouts is he?
I've seen some Olive green and it comes so light and looks a bit sickly. As Badger says even Yamaha's varies, although it seems old NOS stuff (like you find on CMSNL) is darker and stuff they still make is lighter.

if you do go down th green root ask to see something or ask them to do a large washer first some greens look ok and some look ridicules green . You dont want to pay out money and have some silly bright green bits on the bike
