ok, I know I've been away far toooooo long, its just been rather manic
Moving the workshop and having to fit out the new one at the same time was always going to be a big ask, then just to add to the excitement, the wife sold the house, so then had to move the house at the same time as doing the workshop stuff - and all in the space of 6 weeks ! - at least I wasn't bored during lockdown
To add to the confusion, we found a rental house to live in, but it had no phone line, so organised getting one fitted, which happened last Weds (25th Nov), but it didn't work, so then I had to raise another call to get it fixed, which only happened today, which thankfully was just in time as that coincided with the house sale completion today, so at least we could check that the money had hit the account
So now I can get back to sorting the workshop, its an interesting building and has needed alot of work to get it useable for doing the bikes and Dyno work, but with the help of a few friends, customers and family members we've managed to get the dyno room built, the whole place wired up in both single and 3 three phase.
The fresh air system is in and working, the extraction system is 85% complete and I am hoping to finish that tomorrow, along with some extra security features on the access points, then its onto building the desk/work area for the Dyno computer and electronics, then I can get it all wired up and finally calibrated.
The workshop doesn't have a phone line (just been down that road with the rental house !), so I'll be trying to sort that next week, until I get that sorted I'll be a bit limited on a few things, but it won't stop me doing work etc.
The big equipment like the lathe, milling machine, welders, bike bench etc are sort of in position, but need tweaking to be right, but until I clear some space/boxes, I can't move stuff to their final position, so its a little bit of messing about
My target is to be up and fully running at the start of the new year, I am hoping to get a few jobs that I have in already done before hand, but I've a huge amount to do, but if I can get the Dyno operational by the end of next week then I'll have a fighting chance of hitting my desired deadlines
The new place is on an industrial estate, which means I have no restrictions on how many times, or when I run the Dyno, so more slots will be available going forward, plus I can acgtually get at most of my equipment now.
The down side is I can't hold many bikes on site, the business insurance premium is horrendous, but TBH I don't like having too many bikes around anyway as it stops me working, so going forward I'll be alot more strict about bike storage etc
On the plus side, the workshop is away from home now, so once I've finished for the day, I've finished, so the wife is much happier, plus I've now got a dedicated mobile number for work stuff, its on the web site, which is now back up and running
So, another few weeks and hopefully I'll be back up and working, those of you who have jobs with me I'll be sorting those first, those of you booked in with jobs in the new year should still be ok, I'll advise if anything changes, but I am hoping not to have to alter any dates/jobs
Thanks to everyone who has been patient with me moving etc, I know its been a right ball ache, but the lockdown hasn't helped and moving house at the same time really slowed stuff down as I had my time split between the 2 moves
Its still going to take a while for me to catch up on calls, emails etc, etc, but I will..........honest !!!
