Yes mate, just off Pennant Hills Road so we use it most journeys sadly. Funny you mention the new tunnel, its in and operating now. Wahoo! Its defo better without so many trucks and people passing though on their way north and south. Locals can breathe a sigh of relief again... literally without the fumes! www.northconnex.com.au/That's good timing... I'm heading down that way on the way to Canberra the weekend after next for the first time in a few months, so I'll get to try it out. I always hated that there was no way of avoiding it. Cool, defo works for me that all the people who were just driving past and now driving under

The volume of traffic at any time of day, and traffic lights back to back. You'll get the neighborhood back.

The volume of traffic at any time of day, and traffic lights back to back. You'll get the neighborhood back. Yes its been much better for us. We now have all those lights (21 sets over 9km) phased now for us to cross the road rather than for the road to cross our burbs, that means less backed up traffic on those roads, less idling cars etc. Rush hour isnt a thing of the past, but its back to being about an hour (or two) now, before it had become an all day thing as you say. Its also much better for the truck drivers who struggled to stop for the lights sadly. I have lots of dashcam footage of them running the red lights cos they were tired or just didnt see them. crossing the road by foot or car was getting really dangerous for a while. We also now no longer get long bouts of compression braking at 4am, illegal but they didnt care, so we sleep better. I think you'll like driving though it as well, its LED lit with some clever effects and things to see along the way so that you dont drop off inside it etc. MightCarMods used it in a youtube video a few days after it opened, which was cool. Of course weve not been through it. We live half way along it and you can only access the ends, so we have no need haha. Let me know what you think after youve tried it, Im keen to know what you think.

It'll be Sunday this trip, so won't get the full idea for traffic and time saving, but will let you know how it goes. I've done that run so many times, and marveled that for such a big city, the only way to get the north/south was that. I have been watching and waiting for the tunnel, so good news. Property prices will have boomed along the A28.😁

Booked a car in for a warranty replacement (HSV GTS LED tail and brake light units failed) and I know it is always busy leading up to holidays but I must also have struck the period where people finally took their cars in after lockdown as the earliest available time was 29 December. I have had to replace two batteries that failed this year due to non-use. Most of my cars and bikes have their batteries disconnected when not in use but these two were the daily drives, both about 5 years old and not being used for days at a time in lockdown finally took its toll. duncanb and jonw I lived in Cherrybrook some years back and it was a real eye opener driving in traffic on Pennant Hills Road. Unbelievable amount of traffic pretty much all day.

I tend to use my motorbikes more than my car, but it does depend on the circumstances. I generally work away from home so normally transport is taxi, hire car and company car. When home i use the car mostly for transporting things or if I go somewhere with someone else. The rest is on the bike. Due to my work I've owned the same car for roughly 30 years and this year it's been a bit unreliable. Beginning of the year the clutch master cylinder needed to be replaced after leaking for about 4 years. It was last replaced by me in 1993, the clutch fork died in September this was fitted new in 1998. The last problem was suspected cylinder head leak but this turned out to be the header tank. I would say I do about 4000 to 6000km a year unless I go on holiday. It even won a best car award on a rally from Holland to southern Italy. I knew one of the other competitor's and he said it something to do with the two young ladies driving it. I would be interested to hear more details on this car!

That’s cheating everyone knows landies last forever. I grew up with 90’s and my old man hand cranking the 2 1/4 petrol motor in the winter. Removing the seats to fill the fuel tanks, air vents that are just openings to the rain and snow separate hand wipers Jesus h they are more agricultural than motor vehicle.

Photos posted for Tobyjugs As you can see it's an old land rover. I needed a pickup truck and really wanted a Toyota Hilux, they were to expensive so i ended up buying this from the local farmer. Over the years it has grown on me. I am the second owner. The top picture is when the two young ladies drove it down to southern Italy, including 3 point turns on the Stelvio Pass. The middle picture shows it hasn't lost its Mojo. The bottom picture was when the clutch mechanism broke and the bloody idiots transported it 200 kms backwards in a storm and blew the canvass up like a balloon and wrecked it.

Like i said it grew on me over the years. I normally drive it all year round open top like in the last picture. I find it only becomes unbearable around -6 and under. Then i put up the fume curtain, although i am thinking about heated thermal underwear if i still go to the Ukraine at the beginning of next year with the truck cab fitted. Made in 1966

Thanks for replying and the photos. I should have guessed it was a Landie!! The vision I had was an old Volvo or BMW 5 series... That’s cheating everyone knows landies last forever. Made in 1966 I do have another car but I prefer the Landy. The other car is a Marcos Mantula apart from the odd trip to France or Sweden and the UK, I have only mostly used it on the Nuremburg ring with other Marcos cars. After a couple of years I realised i was working lots of hours to pay for the privilege. It's an expensive hobby which for me was like taking drugs. This was at a very basic level. Two strokes are much cheaper.

I do like rover vitesse sd1, or an Opel manta a neighbour had one, but I didn’t pass my test till I was 24 too busy with bikes. I had two Mantas, both 1.9SRs, one made in Belgium and one made in Germany, the German one was a lot better made My current car is a 12 year old, medium sized 4 door saloon made by Mitsubishi.

346 business miles, 366 private miles (did 200 miles to close down my holiday home before lockdown) so 712 miles
Usually 3-4000

Just cancelled two of my fully registered cars as I had not driven them for a year or so. (I have a sickness - 13 cars and 8 bikes in total.) Even thinking of selling the Harley which I use to commute, because that does not happen working from home all year and not likely to go back to the office much at all. I have three cars and a bike on classic permits where you can use vehicles over 25 years since manufacture for a limited number of days per year, 45 or 90. Cost is pro-rata so it is a massive saving and it keeps these older classics out and being driven. Except for this year. Only used the classics a handful of days so far.

I am lucky enough to have a highly upgraded 2007 Subaru sti (which the wife hates) which has hardly been driven since March as I do all my work via the laptop at home and meetings are done via video. Used the car yesterday to collect my daughter from Leeds university so managed to take it for a decent 450 mile run. Happily I am retiring early on the 24 th Dec so expect to use the car and bikes much more in 2021 and beyond. I am now at “peak garage” and will be keeping all my Vehicles until I shuffle off this world

I started a thread about my love of these cars here and named it as the 'late 90s' as thats what I am into, but of course the golden era of those cars spills over into the 2000s as well. The ability and appetite to mod and change these cars to me was always akin to what it was like with bikes like the LC in the 80s. Your post reminds me; I need to use my Evo... I'll charge the battery today and use it over the Xmas period, although that is a tad 'dangerous' here as we have 'double demerits' the whole festive time, what that means is all fines and points are doubled. Not a great time to hoon about in one of 'our' cars lol.
