Just a quick one Got a new present for a member on the forum👍 Been a bit of a challenge but managed to print in ABS a replacement speedo and Tacho clock case These first ones are in black as they just the first “test prototypes” so they can do a test build, then once proven that the model / part is correct planning to print some in white for them 😁😁 No rest for the wicked 😁😁 Catch up soon Best wishes and stay safe Al

I have a rev counter without a case that's been kicking around for a few decades. I came across it the other day and for no logical reason at all I spent a bit of time cleaning it up. Maybe it's destiny

Alan you're a star, and another reason why this forum works as well as it does, members help whenever possible, your printer will be working overtime with all these parts you're making.

Looks great. Just thinking Maybe encapsulating a nut would allow for a strong anchor rather than try use riv nut etc. Presumably you could stop the print, place a nut, then continue?

Hi all Just a quick message to say thanks for all positive feedback👍 To be honest it’s the most complex part I have models and printed so far for the RD but yes really please on how the prototypes have turned out😎😎 They may look similar in shape to the originals but as I needed to create the 3d model first I took the liberty of hopefully improving the design by making the external mounting lug a bit thicker (as they alway seem to break here☹️) and I have added some internal webs to try and improve the strength of the main body casings print Like I said at the start they still need test fitting to prove the internals fit OK or if need a slight tweak, but once this is complete and the prototype is proven then I will be printing them in white as per the originals and then I can sort a cost etc for those that have expressed an interest👍 Catch up soon and stay safe out there as I think a sh1t storm is approaching Best wishes to you all Al

Excellent job Alan, just a thought how much more difficult would it be to create a top bezel (the bit that hold the clock glass on) perhaps with some sort of bayonet type locking mechanism.

Anything is possible Lets first get the main body proven then maybe I could look at this idea as a possible mk2 version as the bezel is hidden under the main cases so it would be a change to the case lip design and then design and print a bezel to suit the main case 🤔🤔🤔

Sneak preview of the test fiting of Alan's latest creations. A bit of tweaking needed, but looking very promising. Production models will be in white I understand.

Hi all Quick update After the initial test fit many thanks to Shaun, the mk2 prototypes are all done and will be in the post to Shaun tomorrow so we can assess how close we are to the final design They look very good and now “cleaned up”the design by removing all the unused holes and have added flat faces to remove the bosses and improve strength I think the outside shape now looks really clean and “sharp” especially in the spare light grey ASA I had stashed away👍 These will now be winging their way to Shaun for a test fit and then we can see what final tweaks may be needed before I print the final white ones Catch up soon Best wishes Al

Hi Al
Not being negative here as they are brilliant but were the extra 2 holes in the case not there to vent the case and let any moisture that would cause fogging dry out
In saying that it is easy enough to drill them back in if you want them so not a problem
Steve
