Three Bond 1215 Grey Silicone Liquid Gasket Product Outline TB1215 is a semi-flowing single-component, solvent free and non-acid RTV (room temperature vulcanizing) silicone liquid gasket. TB1215 is ideal for places where a long, faultless seal is absolutely critical. Recommended for sealing flange surfaces, screw sections and as a gasket dressing, to prevent oil, water, gasoline and chemical leaks. Long tack-free time and fully cured in 24 hours. Recommended for all automotive, motorcycle, watercraft, snowmobile and ATV engines. Features • Effective temperature range -60°C to +250°C. • Outstanding mechanical resistance against vibration. • Excellent adhesion even to slightly oily surfaces. • Resistive for gear oil. • Sensor safe. • Normal disassembly. Typical Properties Properties Value Appearance Grey semi-fluid paste Viscosity 20 Pa.s Specific gravity 1.5 Tack free time 60 minutes Directions for Use • In order to fully utilise the performance of the liquid gasket, it is recommended to eliminate oil, dirt and any previous gasket material from the work. Oil and grease can be effectively removed by cleaning with TB6602W Super Cleaner. • TB1215 may be applied directly from the tube. • Cut nozzle to desired bead size, 3mm is suitable for most applications. • Apply a uniform continuous bead to the sealing flange and assemble the parts immediately or within 30 minutes whilst silicone is still wet. Tighten bolts to specified torque – no need to re-torque later. • For gasket dressing apply a thin film to flange, place solid gasket and apply a second film of TB1215 on top surface. • Assemble parts immediately or within 30 minutes.

I use Threebond 1215, but 1211 should work too. Main difference appears to be it 1215 is more viscous (thicker) and dries quicker...and it is grey not white. Also, noticed 1215 says it is safe to use with gear oil, whereas 1211 says it is safe with engine oil.

I apply a thin layer of 1215 using a small brush.
You have plenty choices now. All these options seem to work okay on our engines.

Hi, My prefered gasket gloop is Hylomar. Interesting reading if you read up on who developed it and who uses it. A wipe with a rag soaked in thinners also removes any excess. Steven. hylomar.com/hylomar/

thanks gents for all the feedback, ive used hylomar in the past, seemed to work ok, wanted to know if anything was better? looking through the posts, a few have mentioned three bond 1104 and 1194, these seem to have been replaced with 1184. looking at the official uk supplier of three bond, they quote that 1104 contained lead. Three Bond 1184 - replacement for TB1104 Case Sealant Liquid Gasket now without the lead content of the TB1104 but all the same qualities Product Outline BRAND NEW 200G SIZE! TB 1184 is a visco-elastic semi-drying sealer which is resistant to oil, water, gasoline and chemicals. Application areas include sealing transmission case covers, motorcycle cases, timing chain cases, side covers, 2-piece cylinders, clutch housing bolts, automotive, outboard, oil filter mounting surfaces and virtually every other automotive need. Since it excels in padding properties, it is highly effective in sealing surfaces with poor flatness or large gaps and Metal on metal joints. TB1184 is a development and improvement of the popular liquid gaskets TB1104 and TB1194, and can be used as a direct replacement in all applications. The 1184 Liquid Gasket features semi hardening gasket elastomer sealer which unlike silicon based gaskets sealants will to not come off inside the engine and cause blockages or oil circulation problems. TB 1211, seems to be only available outside the uk TB 1184 with the seller adding yamabond/hondabond to the selling listing TB 1215 seems to have no issues www.ebay.co.uk/itm/THREEBOND-1184-SEALANT-LIQUID-GASKET-200G-NEW-SIZE-official-supplier-best-price-/112358834803?hash=item1a291bc273

found this uk supplier, 100gm of threebond 1211 for £8.90, add the vat and shipping comes to £17.82, which is still cheaper than anything i found off the bay. if you live very local, you could save £6 dabs and collect www.techsil.co.uk/threebond-1211-100gmlooks like i will be going down this route

The lead is added to help stop any fretting between the two contracting surfaces.
