My thread on the tzr forum has more details but has anyone here had issues with UK fuel, (or worldwide lol)? Basically as you probably know most fuels have ethonal in it, what you may not know is this stuff is bad, very bad for carbs tanks just about everything on our bikes. I found out the hard way, £400 later to fix my tzr250r and get it working again. I now use Sunoco Optima fuel, it's ethonal free and has a shelf life of minimum 3 years, which means I can leave it in my bike all year with no fear of any damage at all.lt is not cheap but for my riding style and keeping it safe over winter it's worth every penny.... Sorry if this has been talked about before but this issue should be a sticky... And don't think additives work cause they don't... The only fuel in the UK that is ethonal free (except certainareas see there web site) is Esso supreme plus. Our bikes are old and need love don't let this crap 'modern' shit petrol ruin them...you have been warned (lol)...

Just been reading various threads relating to bike running problems, the ethonal fuel could be a lot of the problems I'm reading, honestly it is crap for our bikes. Think about it, our bikes were made when leaded fuel was the norm now it's gone but our bikes remain lol, get decent fuel before you try to fix anything, just that might solve most problems....really trying to help...

Discovered Many years ago with the introduction of Ethanol laced fuels .. that these would NOT work in my Gardening Gear 2 strokes (shindaiwas). Missfiring, hard to start, wouldn't rev out.. Made them v hard to use. Found that 94 RON fuels were 'guaranteed' to be Ethanol free. Chevron, Shell .. Maybe others ? My 2 strokes run perfectly on the stuff.. Bikes and Garden gear alike.

Done threads on this. I just use Esso Synergy Supreme, The only fuel that does not contain ethanol, apart from in scotland and cornwall i believe

I use my bikes for journeys so have to fill up from whatever petrol station is available when I run low...Yesterday it was Tesco, BP and Shell...Ill include a H2, NSR250, a few LCs and an RD400 in that...never any issues, maybe replaced a fuel tube once or twice in 8 years?
Drain the fuel system as Yamaha advised back in the day if your storing the bike , apart from that keep calm and carry on riding it..bigger things to worry about, blown out of all proportion by internet forums.
Not a popular view point on the internet among the bike worriers but not something thats ever discussed by my friends who ride their bikes...

....really trying to help... Your not. "I filled up with petrol today and had no issues" just isnt newsworthy, thats the reallity of whats going on most of the time , the net just exaggerates and blows out of proportions all these "problems" E10 is supposedly worse than the devil and coming next, the rumour mill is already going on that before its landed but ive done a fair few miles on it in France and Italy, on my LC, Mike on his NS400 and TDR250 and there still alive...use it...or drain it...simples...

In the USA we still have stations (in many states) that carry 100% gasoline. I have three five gallon cans that I add Stabil treatment to, fill all three, and use this in all of my carborated engines (weed eater, leaf blower, two garden tractors, tiller, lawn mower, Kawasaki Mule UTV, two or three motorcycles). FI vehicles ('06 GL1800 and two cages) get the 10% ethanol crap, but they can handle it if operated regularly. The Brazilian sugar growers and American corn growers sure do love the politicians for requiring ethanol usage!

YES I AM TRYING TO HELP BLOKE, and I take offence at your lack of knowledge in this subject and my own real problems with this fuel. £400.00 to repair my bike due to ethonal fuel damage "is not a problem"!!! I know it is. Using this fuel daily (if you run daily) is not a problem. Having this fuel in you bike for extended periods of time is. Take what you want from what I've said and have had what's happened to me it's your bike and your choices Again I Am trying to help.....

I have always used super unleaded in my bikes with no issues
Only thing recently that may have anything to do with it is my latest build
Used the usual tourmax float valves in 31k carbs (used about 10 sets over the years with no probs)
Used standard Tesco unleaded from the start
Bike ran fine with no issues but now if I leave it a week and go back to it the bike starts fine, runs for 20 secs till the bowls are empty then stops
I have to Gove it a hard tap on the float bowls to get the valves to unstick and let fuel in
Runs fine after this. It's like the rubber tips are tacky.
Vacuum tap stops me emptying the bowls before stopping ☹

I've never had any problems either really, just use super unleaded in any of our bikes from wherever. If I'm not riding any bikes for more than a few months, I either run them dry and don't run them at all, or I run them at least once a month for a few minutes. If the fuel in them gets to 6 months old, I just syphon it out (takes about 30 seconds with a pipe I have), then put fresh super in. Only thing I get sometimes is fuel pipes going like concrete
