So I've been out on my LC a fair bit and seems to be running fine. I was pushing it a bit and noticed that as the revs build beyond 5,000rpm it starts picking up nicely and when it gets to 6,500rpm it has a decent power build. As I pushed it harder to 7,500-8,000rpm, it really surges with he RPMs snapping up to redline and a complete change in tone - along with extra power.
Here's a video that gives an idea of what's happening.

Sounds like the clutch is badly slipping to me.

Oil level light? 🤔 Get that checked and topped up or it will be more than the clutch letting go

Clutch is fried.. If it's been slipping like that for a while, change the plates and steels and fresh springs with new clutch bolts as they can stretch badly. it'll transform it. If the sudden rise in revs was accompanied by a dramatic acceleration to match then you'd be on to a winner..

If your speedo actually worked and you could see that the engine picked up speed but the bike did not, then you'd know for sure that the clutch was slipping. But with the warning light and no speedo, I'd say that is a bike that is not ready to go just yet. Needs work sooner rather than later.

A long shot! but you may be able to dial that out by adjusting the clutch worm, as I said a long shot, but you just may be able too, worth a try.

Thanks - for the quick diagnosis - I feel like I should have known that! My speedo just packed-up a couple of days ago. Another item that should be a straight forward fix - but isn't. If anyone wants to help solve that mystery, I created a post here. Yes - I will add more 2T - but I just switched from pre-mix back to the oil pump and I'm intentionally running it low until I'm sure there are no leaks. I think I have a post on here from the time when the black plug came out of the oil pump (apparently pretty uncommon) and dumped a liter of 2T all over my garage floor! Not sure if I was more bothered by the mess or the fact that I had just paid $20 on one liter of oil!! Appreciate the advice - really enjoying the learning process and I'm convinced there's nothing more fun than these bikes!!
