Well this fella claimed he wanted this restored but doesn't have the time.. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-rd350lc-UK-bike-matching-numbers/254653542892?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649but after swapping a few messages with him its clear he is interested in profit and not getting the bike back on the road. He has increased starting price from £3,000 to £3,500 on basis he has had a lot of interest, but in reality, no bids yet. I shared with him some of the previous work I had done to reassure him it would get a good standard original restoration, and also my estimate with breakdown that needed £5,000 min spend on it plus 200 hours labour so would be a labour of love rather than a money spinner, but his reaction is to increase the start price due to the level of interest! Probably my bad as thought us old bikers were from similar mould, but maybe needs must these days.

Anyone stupid enough to get into a bidding war on that deserves all they get. Wasn’t that long ago that was £500 tops it needs so much doing to it I hope he gets stuck with greedy b*****d but you know some fool will be along shortly.

It's not just folk on ebay, I've been promised/messed about by a member on this very forum even, sad to say, that there's many folk out there who you can't trust.
I wish that only the genuine people were drawn towards these bikes, folk who want to actually ride/use/enjoy them, rather than the folk who use them as some sort of pawn in a game or are only concerned about the money they go for.

Trouble is in today's market on e bay, the starting price isn't far off what you would pay if you bought the part's seperately. Matching numbers for a lot of people is the Holly Grail, I would love to have them , but I ain't paying 1500-2000 for the privilege. Me and mine are 1. If I sold her it would be like losing an arm or a leg. We are all different, we love our machines for different reasons. Sadly those that love them for the money, are ruining it for those of us that love them for what they are.

3.5k... mental.
Its a bunch of rough parts that will needs thousands spending on it. just mad.
But I do agree with the OP, not everyone (even on here) has the same mindset. For some its more (all?) about money and not about the bikes themselves. Sad but true.

I have it in my watch list just out of morbid curiosity, but he probably thinks all the watchers really want it.
I'm not following his logic though, if it didn't sell at £3k then why put the price up - unless as I said he thinks all the watchers are potential buyers.

I’m guilty of watching it too....seems a harmless type of interest, we can all relate to the phrase ‘I’ll get the popcorn out for that one’ but apart from pure ‘entertainment’ there is a tinge of voyerism crossed with rubbernecking !

I've met this guy, we was trying to sell a hybrid project a couple of years back, it was shite, needed everything doing, he wanted £3k for it, I said it was £2k tops, he wasn't interested when I offered that in cash, but a couple of months later he contacted me to ask if I still wanted it at £2k, I said no I'd found another project (which I had), he eventually put it back on ebay and it sold for around £2k - not sure if somebody on here bought it thinking about it ! I saw this bike at the same time sat in the corner, I asked what he was doing with it, he said he was selling the hybrid to fund the resto of the LC, clearly didn't happen. He's dreaming if he thinks he'll get that amount for it, but I thought he was a dreamer when I met him, not sure if he is on here TBH

Dave did allude to it, of course they are on here. Sadly we don’t all come from the same place, look at user details for past 24 hrs 😁 Have they been on watching? Who is it?
