What are all the differences between the LC and YPVS gearboxes ?
What visually sticks out to spot easily ?

Not sure but is the output shaft longer on a YPVS?
(The part that the sprocket fits onto is further out from the case face / oil seal on a 31k motor??)

Will a Ypvs output shaft fit in LC cases, to help chain alignment for a wider rear wheel?
Stef.

I think its a 'yes' Stef, but you will also need the ypvs collar... saying that tho some of the gears are different as well tho, ie some of the YPVS are thicker. Maybe that makes this a no, but i reckon as the space is the same you could try threading the LC clusters on the ypvs shaft etc. I reckon it would work, but... never tried it. I use the whole ypvs motor in my hybrid LCs.

Will a Ypvs output shaft fit in LC cases, to help chain alignment for a wider rear wheel? Stef. No it won't. As well as the splined bit where the sprocket mounts being longer, the internal bit inside the box is longer too.

Thanks for the replies chaps. Good to know. I thought it would be too easy to a gain a few extra mm to help offsetting the sprocket.
Thanks,
Stef.

No problem Stef, that's what we are here for. If you are putting a YPVS wheel in an LC, you will need the YPVS sprocket spacer plus you will need to swap from 530 to 520 chain and sprockets

Cheers Rich. That's my current thought process, going 520 and using the ypvs spacer. I've got an Xjr400 rear wheel in a Fzr400 swingarm. So I'll need an offset sprocket and machined sprocket carrier. Thought I might have found an easy 6mm. đ

Spot on, the difference between LC and YPVS spacer is about 6mm from memory anyway. Another tip, if you haven't got a YPVS spacer you can pack the sprocket out using clutch basket thrust washers as they are the same diameter
