Does no harm at all to run a few extra ones, I ran an earth cable from the engine case up to the frame and also from the battery negative to the frame.

I've just dry fitted the VAPE Power Dynamo to my LC and was surprised when I couldn't initially get the Neutral light lit up..
Double checked the wiring & not that it's complicated, but it turned out that even with the engine bolted into the frame (bottom end only) it was not earthed to the chassis and simply connecting the gear linkage earthed them together and bingo there was my neutral light.
Definitely add another earth or two..

A 'basic' and mandatory upgrade IMO Disassemble a Typ Yama Loom and you will find blackened and often destroyed Black /earth wires. Because Yama San decided to save a yen on Ground wire.
