HI I am new here. Got myself an `86 rd 350 f2 similar to the one i had many years ago. My question for today: Is there supposed to be matching engine and chassis numbers on my bike? My chassis have the 1wt prefix and the engine 31k.... From what i can se my carbs have powerjets. Is it likely that i have the original engine or do i have an engine from an earlier bike? Cylinders say 31k too... Is there any real difference except carbs and porting between the engines? Chassis is 1WT 001114 so it shall be a very early one...

You have an earlier engine.

Yep, as above sounds like the engine has been changed at some point. No big deal really, unless you are after originality. Pretty much all the engine parts are compatible and any combinations of barrels, carbs, crankcases etc will work fine. Only exception being stators and CDI's but if the original F2 setup has been retained that's a bonus too as it's more reliable than the 31K unit.

Thanks for the quick reply. Originality is not an issue. YPVS valve will need a service but i guess parts will be the same...
