Having refurbished my callipers and now reassembled them, I notice that they are a little wobbly on the securing pin that goes through the calliper body and the fixed bracket on the fork. I have measured the pin at 8.1mm diameter and the hole at 8.5mm so this can create some play. Is this correct? Should there be some rattle in them if you shake them? The brakes stop perfectly well and the cylinders retract on brake lever release but they do seem to back off enough to leave a small gap of about 1mm between the disc and both pads. If I push the bike back and forth you can hear them clicking. I am just wondering if the hole for the pin is worn. Both sets of callipers measure exactly the same.

Is the L shaped shim plate between the caliper body & hanger bracket fitted? OEB

IMO nothing to worry about. There may be a service limit on the pins printed somewhere? I’ve done many miles on bikes with those type of callipers and the only thing apart from the rattle I’ve noticed is the pads wear slightly out of square. Obviously assuming all shims and springs are present.

There is also a little spring that is located in a blind hole.

Ok. So I definitely don’t have the L shaped shim nor the other metal shim shown under the pin on the above picture. It appears that I also don’t have any springs anywhere! I have looked on fleabay and yambits and cant find any of these parts. Any ideas where I can get them from? Thanks.

You could get a one off pin made if you want to reduce the play.

There are all so 2 seals that fit in the little carrier plate that the pin slides on, Norbo sells them.

Hi. I have been searching for the brake caliper / pads shims with no success! eBay, Yambits, Fowlers, etc. don't show anything. Any ideas where I can get these from? Part numbers, prices, etc. would be very useful. Thanks

Yes, I think that stops the pads from rattling about. Unfortunately my calliper is on the bike now.
