Hi All
i ordered in a complete set of new front and rear genuine F1 indicators a while back
Trouble is they are all the same length and all the same part number, I queried this with the supplier, as I was certain that there should be a short set for the rears and a long set for the front, I was told they were all the same now and been superseded
So I’ve measured the stalk on the indicators and they are approximately 60mm long, my fronts look like they foul on the fairing and are being pushed inwards and downwards
So before I start attacking the birdcage to bend it down I’m wondering if anyone could give me the lengths of the front and rear stalks, as I don’t know if I have fronts or rears, knowing my luck they are all rears
if it does turn out I have all rears and there happens to be a set of fronts available, I’d certainly be willing to swap them if any one is interested
Many thanks
Howard

I thought the fronts were longer
If you look at the pics of the 2 F1's on ebay just now the indicator body is no where near the fairing
Try looking for the 10v part number dt/xt ones, they are longer

Fronts are around 70mm and the rears are around 40mm, measurements are just the rubber flexible parts.

Hi Steve, Simon
Thank you for that info
Could I push the friendship and ask for an overall length of the body and stalk, at least then I’ll know where we are measuring to and from
My measurements were from the end of the rubber stalk to the base of the body
Thank you
Howard

Hi Simon
Thank you, yes I can concur with trying to measure the fronts in situ
That gives me something definitive to go by, I’m definitely thinking I have 4 rears
I see yambits have aftermarket ones, I’d prefer genuine however beggars sometimes can’t be choosers
Wanted ad coming up
Thank you to all
Howard

Not sure f1 are the same but I seem to remember taking a new LC pattern indicator, taking the inside and the lenses off and swapping them for genuine
They all fitted and it now looked like a genuine indicator
I couldn't measure mine as not with the bike

Hi Steve
I was hoping someone might say you can dismantle them and use the genuine bits as far as possible
I’ve put a wanted ad up in any case so will see what transpires and go from there
I’ve got what I thought was a set of really good second hand ones, guess what, they are all short stalks too, bugger
@ Simon
It’s always the way, my mechanic was servicing the missus bike and wanted to see the progress on the F1, it was him that sort of way confirmed what I had thought in the first place
you guys have really confirmed it, although I haven’t been able to measure the full length yet, however I’m pretty sure they ain’t 180mm
Here’s hoping I don’t have to “adjust” the bird cage if I can get hold of the longer stalked ones, that will make life so much easier
Cheers
Howard

On topic, but not 100%, I have an F2; and I’m sure the upper fairing and birdcage is the same as F1.
My front indicators are definitely longer than the rear.

Now off topic - sorry. But do you have some close ups at various angles of the paintwork on a 3HM1 (including the wheels). PM me if the OP doesn’t want to go off topic?
I’m seriously considering this for my R twin sparred hybrid as a paint scheme.

F1 defo has longer inds. Diff part numbers. Page E9 of the 57V manual on rd350lc.net Fronts are www.cmsnl.com/products/front-flasher-light-assy_5y38331020/and that supersceeds to .21 I reckon your guy made a mistake with the ordering Howard. I usually find indicators can be found cheaper on ebay, but see how you go. Remember they are the same as the 500, some DTs etc so still available new. aftermarkets are ok on the LC and Ive done what Steve says as well with some, but the OEM are defo better plastic.

Hi Jon
Yes I do think the guy made an error and that has been confirmed by Steve and Simon and by me checking part numbers
Interesting what Dejan was saying too, as the set of second hand ones I bought from Japan were supposed to be front and rears, one would have expected 2 long and 2 short, however not the case and backs up what he was saying about the F2’s too
@ Jon, the other one
No worries about going off topic, go for your life, it all adds to the knowledge base and it is related
Besides I think I did the same to you on your thread, fairs fair I reckon, apologies for that

Ok, ive been digging... its not an error he made, its the parts book i think. Considering the gap and the fairing I believe these should defo be long and short. The short ones are too short for the front. But in Aus, for the Aussie model go to this online parts book, find the RZ250R or RZ350RN and find the Flasher Light www.yamahapartsonline.com.au/parts/They list these as the same part front and back. They do both look the same length in the pic... but so do they in the 57V. Anyway, I believe its a parts book error. As an aside, Inds are ok value in Aus if youre looking locally Howard. Not much good for UK buyers as the post would kill the deal, but its another of those rare occurrences where its cheaper to buy here instead of overseas.

Hi Jon
The thot plickens, so the parts book is incorrect
I’ve ordered a pair of 5Y3-83310-21, hopefully they are the correct length
They are XT’s and Steve thinks the only difference is the lens, which is fine as the body is the same and I have some new lenses from the wrong parts, if they are the same I’ll have some rear indicators for sale lol
Fingers crossed they will work out, at $40 AUD (less than 20 quid) and no freight I think they are a good price, albeit 3 months lead time
Thank you for all the input
Howard

The only differences I recall seeing is that the rubber is sometimes different - in the number of ribs in them and the spacing, just something to check when they arrive.

Right I’ve definitely got rears all round, just measured mine, had to get a mate to open the garage door to do it though They are 145mm, so thanks to Simon’s info I have all rears I hope that I now don’t have to start bending my birdcage again jonThanks for that additional info, and yes that guy is a p taker $450 inc postage for 4 indicators, 3 times the amount I paid, message sent to them
