Some smooth bridging is normal
Anything deep or sharp needs dressing with a file and lives to fight another day

Tidy the basket up with some fine emery paper.
Just check that there's no movement between the gear and the basket. There is a crush drive between the both and its a common defect. Easily fixed once its out.
