hi all..could any one tell me if a rd350 ypvs 31k servo control box was faulty would it stop the spark plugs from sparking..

No it wouldn't. The likely culprit is likely to be the CDI unit or ignition stator

if I disconnect the control unit and servo motor I get a spark connect it back up I don't get a spark

sounds like something is grounding out, probably the kill switch wire, when you connect it. check each wire individually.

any one no which wire from the control unit to the servo motor is the live feed when you turn ignition on..

Not sure, but the brown wire is the live feed to the control unit from the fuse box, black is ground and grey or black/yellow is the rpm signal from the CDI.
5 wires go direct from the control unit to the servo and don't connect into the main loom. There must be a live, ground and the other 3 are the feedback from the position pot inside the servo. Easiest way to find out may be to pop the back off the servo and follow the wires inside the unit.

Basically, the servo receives it's power supply from the control unit. It has no direct connection to the main wiring loom at all.
