Matts always claimed to be smarter than the average bear? Steve’s been old forever and probably owns an mx5, dusty I reckon goes back to the brigade ( surname) jon and jonw self explanatory as are hblair etc etc Just be interested to see why.

Ah...that goes back a fair bit. It started when I first saw Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Maybe the best comedy film ever made and one scene had me in hysterics. John Cleese as the French soldier on the ramparts taunting King Arthur. Notable lines are 'son of a window dresser' and 'I fart in your general direction...'. However for some reason when he said 'you electric donkey bottom biter' I was on the floor howling! The first forum I ever joined when the web sprang up was Suzuki Club UK (4x4s, not bikes) and I plumped for Donkeychomp as a slighty abbreviated version of Cleese's line. Every forum I've been on I've used the same name, it mainly gets shortened to DC...and for a while that was confusing as I wasn't David Coulthard...On the A/C forum I'm Kawazonkey...try figuring that one out! Donkeychomp no...DC no! Alex

Back in the early days of eBay I was restoring a little H***a for my Mrs.
I needed to pick a user name, seems to have stuck with me since then, unlike the bike.

I was going to choose Donkeyhung but was worried I would be done by trading standards!
My real story is as boring as veg's (sorry!), I am a Shaun, and when registering my first email addy I tried shaun, shaun1, shaun2, shaunthe1st, etc but all taken, and it suggested shaunthe2nd, so it stuck for various things like email, ebay, forums etc. I still haven't found shaunthe1st who beat me to it though.

My surname is Booth. My mates dropped a couple of letters which became Bot. Which was my nickname for years.
The gang I work with started calling me Botty. It just stuck and I answer to it now.

I wish I did have a good story for mine, like maybe my real name was Simon and I always used the name Jon when I got a new mota, JonA at the start and ended up at JonW when I joined this forum... Sadly Ive had more vehicles than W would net me and those whove been here a while know that it is my actual name. No imagination, I know.

Ha, well not that funny but Years ago I used to race AMCA MX, not brilliant, but had an amazing time with the group of lads I did it with, great laugh. In the winter one year we decided to go dry slope skiing one weekend, never done tried it before. No matter what I tried, I simply could not turn left, which is a bit of a handicap, ended up hurtling down the slope and totally creamed a 10 year old lad into the safety net at the bottom, huge embarrassment, thankfully he wasn't hurt, mate of mine commented I looked like I had rigor mortis I was that stiff trying to ski .... and that got shortened to rigga.

Ive never claimed to be smarter than the average bear 🧸 although I have shit in the woods 🙈,My missus used to call me a bear but her being a scouser made it sound more like burr 😱 My furry companion is named Yogi because he looked like a little bear 🐻 original forum name was yogiburr but I later shortened it

My surname is Miller, so as Veg correctly said, the Fire Service loves a nickname, so I was reborn as Dusty, and have been ever since. Most guys don't know the real names of their mates in that job ! There was a guy at a neighbouring station who got the nickname of Spam (head) coz he was bald at an early age. His brother joined a few years after, and he was called BOSH - Brother Of Spam Head !! Guys with a big nose often just got "Nose", big forehead was "Slaphead" etc. It was great at big jobs when you saw guys you hadn't seen recently, and the nicknames were getting shouted across the Fireground !! Happy days Dusty

I read all the nick names (act your age not your shoe size) and thought, that's stupid. So I used my real name Mel(vin) Lorp as I have zero to hide, honest.

I refute that terribly insulting remark 😤 I have never owned an mx5 😆 Mine is quite obvious but the back story is that I only owned 1 RD back in the day Bought it after passing my test (well the GSX 250 I'd built in the year before wasn't much faster than the RXS 100 and TS125x I'd been running around on) Rode it, wrecked it, rebuilt it, SS tuned it, ragged it then sold it and moved on to a 750 turbo Never did a full resto again although did strip the GPZ to powder coat the frame and rebuilt the engine when I found out what too power does to them Fast forward to me being nearly 40 (that was only 2009 veg ya cheeky bass) and after rebuilding an xl500 I had the bike building bug again Had the epiphany of a ypvs to relive my youth so bought a basket case complete 350r for £500 (do you remember when that was possible 🙄) Then while on ebay hunting for parts I found "stasky" from here selling my original 31k frame with RGV back and front ends My "midlifecrisisrd" obsession started Evolved for 5 years through various versions and now been lying in a shed for 5 years 🤣 Steve

Pmsl, actually I think I probably deserve the mid life crisis moniker buying my first 911 at 47 ( my excuse was it was the first time I could afford one then the house build took hold 😁.) Funny how our names have evolved. I do indeed remember buying cheap lc’s I thought I’d done well when my rgv pv Lc hybrid sold for over £3k that was in 2007??? Kin ell

what would be a real bit of fun is if we could all swap our usernames for a week so that nobody knew who was who, bet that would start some funny conversations off !
