Is it a job for a specialist to change out the chrome stanchion ?
Is there a grub screw that always rounds and needs drilling out and it's threaded in with some permanent Loctite LOL

I thought when I'd bought my replacements they came with the alloy bottom still attached. www.thetuningworks.co.uk/assets/Fork%20Services.pdfWould think they are a DIY job if you take your time.

I’ve done it myself even though they say it can’t be done
Warm around the grub screw before trying to get it out and warm the bottoms before trying to unscrew
I stripped mine and had them rechromed, you will need new orings to reassemble

The left side is excellent but right side is not so and a lot of the marks are at the bottom , not in the seal area, there is the odd one of concern I have polished and scotchbrited the area and you can hardly feel it with your nail now, so a dilemma

It's the ones that don't have the detachable bit on the upper alloy section
Aren't the bottoms the same then ?
Looked on Fowlers and the "M" model is on it's own with the detachable bit and the chrome stanchions have different part numbers to the others
M Model 51110-22D00 51120-22D00
The other ones which they say are N-P-R-T models and they all share the same lowers
N-P-R-T Models
51110-22D30 51120-22D30

The lowers (caliper carrier) and chrome stanchion are the same (M and N), it's the uppers and internals that are different. The VJ22/SP2 has different everything as it has rebound adjustment on the lower leg.
Having said all that no I don't have any spares.

Years ago pulled mine apart, chrome was shot . yes grub screws buggered ,ended up drilling out and tapping out larger to fit some button head stainless screws . Apart from that easy enough to strip down . Had Phillpots do the chrome .
