I am starting the engine rebuild on my 31K project. I’ve done an LC engine before but the powervalves on the 31K engine are giving me heartburn. What should I do with them? Replace? If not, which bits should I change?
The bike ran fine before I stripped it but it does have 20k+ miles on it so I am giving it a refresh (and a long stroke crank conversion) as part of the rebuild.

Seals, O rings and bushes, check the joining faces have no or little wear where the coupler goes, replace that too if worn, also need to check clearance against bore if your barrels are at the top end of the wear limit, you don't want them catching the pistons or rings! Andy.

As Andy said, I didn't even need to change the bushes in mine, just did O rings, and castle seals etc. Be careful with these too, as any types of solvent will expand them to twice the size.
It's mainly the joint between the two cylingers that will determine what you're going to need, as usually they are beyond repair. Norbo does all the bits I believe.

Mine needed overhauling at around 22,000 miles. All the usual bits as mentioned and my bushes were well worn. Exacerbated by the fact that excess movement due to a broken retainer. The retainers do look pretty flimsy and I don’t know if others find this a weak point, but for the overhaul I used the meatier type retainers that Norbo sells.
