Hi all Just a quick question Just been making up a part for the Rd air box and wondered what people thought and if anybody would be interesting such a part? It’s the frame members that support the foam filter but it’s an all in one unit so you don’t lose one of the supports Thinks cost will be around £5 that should include 1st class post Any comments welcome Best wishes and stay safe Al

Yes I did it this way as I heard a story once that one of the supports came out and wound up holding a carb slide open😳😳
Not sure how true but if it was this solves that issue👍

Yay! It's got to be worth a go Al. If it works, brilliant. If it doesn't...you tried and that's all we ask.

Hi Alex
Trouble is I’m crap at accepting failure at anything (It’s just me)
But I will give it a go
Once I have a needle and model I can then play around with the printer nozzle diameters and program etc to see what happens
Good thing is it’s not a big print so it’s not like I need to print for 15 hours and print fails in the last 2 righting off 13 hour print time and material which really pi55es me off☹️☹️
Also need to research what would be the best material to print the needles in
The slider seat tang nylon is great for parts that need strength but not good for fine detail as you observed Alex with the PLA seat tang

If I had a needle I'd send it to you mate. Someone here will. Ask in the wanted section. And like you said it won't take 15 hours to make!!

Just been quickly trying to think how to print this needle and recon it will be a two piece part due to the different coloured parts If I can print it parts the assembly will look something like this mock up And once I get Johns needle (many thanks John) I will start my model then test prints Catch up soon and stay safe all Best wishes Al

Al, Sounds like you are sorted with a needle. If it falls through let me know and I will check my stock for you. Shaun.
ps - that was a quick model you put together.

Yes it’s only a mock up as just trying to work out the best approach to solve printing different colours 🤔
Once I have the model I have a few colours of ABS so can just then test and if successful I will then order a black and orange for the finished parts

Not sure if 3D printing in a 'flexible' filament is possible, but I'd be well up for an LC2 headlight 'damper' rubber thingy.
May be better to make one from rim tape though??

Yamaha must have known there was a problem with the airbox supports because one of my lc's have an all in one piece support fitted.

Maybe there was a safety issue raised in Yamaha like the story I heard earlier in the thread as no reason to change otherwise?

Hi all
Ok looks like the filter support is a live project😁😁
Cost will be £5 that includes post
Now just put an order in for some filament as don’t have much at home as used most of it on the chain sliders project😁😁
Once I have a few I will pm you to sort address and payment
Catch up soon and stay safe all
Best wishes All
