How long were the alloy petrol caps fitted to LC's before they changed to plastic offset ones?

Don't think there's any particular pattern, I have had older bikes with plastic ones and newer bikes with alloy. They were also fitted to some of the XJs too. Easiest way to identify an alloy cap is the small arrow but they are getting very hard to find now.

There was alloy and plastic in that offset lock style and then the YPVS style. Who knows which was first, but its suspected that it was Alloy then Plastic then YPVS.

I cant see the pic Nigel, but agree we never did get to the bottom of the plastic/alloy debate.
Maybe it the 250s that had the plastic and the 350 got the alloy?

As far as I know the offset caps either alloy or plastic were fitted to 250 and 350 LCs. The raised central lock round plastic caps were fitted to the LC2 and F1/N1. However these caps are all interchangeable so anything could be fitted now. Aftermarket caps also have the raised central lock.
