Has your loom been messed with? Do you still get a circuit when the ignition switch is unplugged?

Hi wangwang yes it's staying on with the ignition unplugged ,,the loom I think is a pattern one that came with the bike and looks in good nick but that means nothing ..I have an old loom but has loads of the connecters missing so I mite get some connecters and give that a go,if I have no luck

Start pulling fuses one by one would be the next step. Start with the main one.

Hi Paul, the LC wiring is not too difficult to follow. The red wire from the battery goes straight to the main fuse in the fuse box. From the other side of the fuse, it is still red, and goes to the ignition switch. After the ignition switch, a brown wire goes back to the fuse box, splits into 3 and feeds 3 fuses, signal, headlight and tail light.
So either the red wire from the battery is shorting to the brown wire(making everything live before the switch). Or the loom or fuse box are incorrectly wired.
If you can get a multimeter, I can talk you through how to test for the fault.
Hope that helps, Cheers, Mark

Could the reg/rec have gone internally direct short across the red and brown connections?

I had exactly that problem when I fitted my new aftermarket loom. The loom uses a fuse box which can unplug from the harness but the connector is covered over in the harness about 4 inches away from the fuse box. You need to open the insulation and expose that connector. From memory, I had to swap the brown wire with either a red or red/white, you can just swap the terminals around in the multi plug connector. The original LC loom doesn’t have that connector so I think that’s why they covered it with insulation. Reminded me of a snake that’s just swallowed something.

Hi Russia I think mine sounds the same as yours will have a look when I get a chance... Thanks

This seems to be a common problems with some pattern looms. I know someone else with this issue. Ian
