Hi all
Trying to convert my 250 to a 350. This question may have been done to death ..... but gonna ask anyway. Just preping an order for Norbo and b4 I send it my question is , are the PVs the same for the 250 as the 350 ?
My PVs look is excellent condition ( which is a surprise, if you you look at my other chat almost everything else was sha**ed ) and i dont want to get a new set - measure em up - to find they are identical !
Know the Bushes are bigger .
Any comments ... info please.

Power valves must be different as the curve of the piston is different due to the 54mm and 64mm Pistons

How much of a performance gain are you going to get by converting it to 350? Will the cost outweigh the benefits, I've got a 250 engine I bought ages ago. Wondered whether to fit it to something or not.

IF you have a 51L set of jugs, leave the engine as it is
You won't notice too much difference in performance at all
They will only be a couple (2) down on a 350 and be a much smoother engine

I've always fancied building an lc hybrid using an 250 ypvs motor As said only 2hp down on a 350lc Tzr running gear or the likes and probably a right hoot. Steve

Steve I should really finish mine with the 51L motor, it just needs paint :/ Oh and its 48bhp, so 1bhp up on an LC350.

Thanx for the replies.
I wanted a challenge and a hobby that was different to the bikes I've had a go at before. Talked to various VJMC members and YPVS owners (including 3 or 4 at the Classic - one particularly at the Calf of Mann) over a short period and all agreed in view of a full rebuild it would be advantageous to refurb and have a 350 at the end. More forgiving to ride, a little more powerfull and a better more saleable bike at the end.
Original bike was a 29L, so any thing " in stock " is gonna be 29L or for the "new /replacement" parts I've gone for 31K. As for noticing whether the 250 is better or worse than 350 I've nothing to base it on as never ridden " any of the RD's ".
Its good to get good "food for thought" and comments from those who have the experience/knowledge to comment GREAT STUFF keep it coming !

If you have the fabled 51L barrels then as others have said your not going to get a massive difference.
I’ve never had them myself, but have heard many comments about them.
I have ridden bikes with RD250LC and RD350LC barrels on and can honestly say that 350 barrels make for a more rideable bike.
