Me again from Straya, when I recently purchased this bike the PO had a Unifilter sticker across the front guard very close to the fork brace. On closer inspection I realised the fork brace was a dodgy bros. special. Not being a real sticker fan I removed the Unifilter sticker after I got the bike home and found this www.flickr.com/photos/187911830@N04/shares/4GUj94The PO had make his own fork brace, then overtightened the mounting screws and cracked the guard - then hidden it behind the Unifilter sticker!!! I had tried to be diligent on inspection but some people are just dodgy.

At least it looks repairable, but not good that it was not disclosed by the seller.

Hi 4l04ever, the repair part is disappointing - the lack of honesty is more so.
Having just purchased this "totally rebuilt" bike it is VERY disappointing the PO was so deceptive.
There should at least be honour amongst fellow bikers.

Mal

I reason if you bin that brace and replace with a proper on the cracks might not show so prominently.
The curve of the guard and the flat plate have caused the stress.
A bit of glue on the underside of them may help to stop them propagating.

Hi Jon, thank you for your advice. I still haven't yet decided how to fix this problem - but replacing the home made brace will be the first step. Regards, Mal
