Hi guys
Has anyone got experience in using this, the dos & don'ts? After getting my LC2 out, not that I ever appreciated it’d be tucked up for this long, I’m wishing I’d have done something like this to preserve finishes/prevent corrosion.
Thanks James

Personally I don't think that it's that great of a product to be honest, I only really use it on a padlock on a shed, the shackle still ends up with spots of rust on it during the winter, despite me not handling it much. I can't see it lasting any longer on a vehicle, for those who do use it on a daily ride, how often are you reapplying it for example??

Its good stuff I have used it on the couple of bike bikes I don't ride during winter that are stored on a leaking damp garage & both have held up well. I also use it on the bike I commute on every day, one was a SV650 & recently a Hornet 600 both have faired very well considering the amount of salt they have encountered. I usually spray a small amount onto a piece of rag and wipe all the fasteners etc. over & only spray hard to get at parts. I have been using this for nearly six years & am only on my second spray can which I think for the corrosion it has held off represents good value for money.

It works well but it’s pretty thick, so tricky to get a nice even coverage I’ve used cans and also a bottle with a small refillable trigger pack As said above spray some on and wipe it over with a rag a small bush helps too for tight corners

Using a rag soaked with the stuff sounds like an idea, I'll try that in the future. For any product to work, surely it needs to be applied by a certain thickness and to stay attached to the object, this is my theory/problem with the likes of all these products.

It's great stuff, gets a bit thick over time but I think that's part of the protection, only thing I'd say is my mate sprayed it on a R1, he got it on the black plastic and it turned it white which would not go black again.

cant see why you'd need it at this time of year, in a lockdown...I have tried it & think its a good product but not one I need...DOnt use my bikes in all weathers and my Winter storage environment is well ventilated and dry, everything comes out as good as I left it after a wipe over with an oily rag.
One word of caution, my cousin sprayed it on the engine of his Ducati Sport Classic and, for some reason, when he ran it next, it badly stained and marked the paintwork on the barrels and case covers .

I am a fan of AC50 too, I spray onto cloth and wipe over, excellent on electrics too.

I use it, cant recommend it enough.. but remember, if what you are using it on is outside it will get washed off, like all other like products. It's a product from the aviation industry. Some folks don't like the fact that its very thick and dust sticks in it. I don't give a shit about how shiney my shit is... but I care about it being corroded. It's also good on stored arms.

It's a product from the aviation industry. I've always wondered exactly what they use it for, surely it can't be anything to do with the outside of a plane otherwise it would soon fly off?

It's brilliant stuff. Most people who suffer poor results haven't applied properly. It has aviation specific ratings for a reason. When applied correctly, It forms a bond with the surface that needs to be chemically or abrasively removed. I first saw it back in 2004 at Oshkosh and the guy who was selling it was one of the originators. He was demonstrating it buy running a mains powered portable TV submerged in a tank of it.! try that with WD40..!
It's great when restoring electrical connectors or components. I was helping a friend build a Seeley Norton and he wanted the frame bare, even finger prints were visible with corrosion after touching, coating it with ACF50 stopped all corrosion. The surfaces must be clean and for best results apply the fluid hot or wipe on thoroughly with a cloth.
I WILL NEVER use WD40 for anything, it's ghastly stuff.

I coated all my bikes in it. Although they are only kept in the shed during winter. The best way to apply it is as a fine mist. To accomplish this i followed a recommendation and bought one of THESE bottles. Warm it up,spray the fine mist,Leave to creep, wipe over. Think the secret is not too lay on too thickly

Be careful getting it on certain rubber parts as i have found it can swell some rubber parts and make them all floppy good for freeing off some siezed items and stopping some corrision. John.

As it happens i just got a tin from the wholesaler I spend a day polishing the hell out of my bikes Forks rims brake plate took them all of and did a bang up job as foolishley i put it away last year with damp on them same for the engine casings so i had to do the lot . so i decided to put some f this oil on them id did dull them of and take the gleam out of them but they still look good and if it works im happy with how they look .
However the tin i had got blocked and when i removed the top and pressed the spout on the table a sticky tar came out it has reacted in the tin and was blocking the tube so now i need to send it back . They say they have never had this before .

If your putting something away to store it, any oil will do...in fact, you cant beat good old fashioned grease or vasoline on metal/chrome...We found an old Bantam rim the other year that had been coated in grease from new in the 60s...and it still looked like new once we had pulled the wrapper off it. Has its uses(ACF50) but at £15 a tin, for storage purposes, there's better and much cheaper options IMHO

Spray some into a WD40 lid and brush it on with a paint brush. Only spray it where your brush can’t reach. Great stuff. I lubricate my control cables with it too in the hope they’ll never rust internally. They make tubs of grease also. Use it for wheel spindles, swing arms etc.

I read it was invented to coat jet planes whilst on Aircraft Carriers - to protect them against sea spray. Could be talking 5hite though!

WD40 evaporates and doesn't leave much oil residue so not really much good for long term protection, it is good for freeing up seized parts etc.

Wd40 is a great cleaner on aluminium but that's about it tend to use GT85 more myself, but have not tried ACF 50!tbh the best think for storing bikes over winter is a dry shed with a bit of draft,or heated garage/house is even better 😁
