I think it's the luck of the draw, I always add import tax, plus the £20 for the post office tea fund onto the asking price to see if it's worthwhile/worst case. If it gets through, then it's my lucky day, believe they are tightening up nowadays.

Me neither
The usual couple of eBay sellers are quite "good" at completing the declarations

Not from Malaysia up to now, just the US plus the robbing post office adding a handling charge.

I've had stuff from "Bob" over there when I could not source it here and had no fees attached.. last one was a gen wiring loom with just a few quid value declaration on it!!
PS My parts from the states have a 100% cough up rate.

I believe £ 35 is the duty free threshold in the UK for import duty. Cooperation from the vendor is helpful. Very strict these days over here as no income tax..every import carries some kind of duty charge.. Shipping and duty frequently more that original purchase price..but it is 75f right now.

I think it's the luck of the draw Your quite right, I think we're all ordering from the same chap maybe but I got collared for an oil seal set last year, ended up costing me more than from the UK in the end but prior to that, I hadnt had an issue. I think he does add in his listings now that you must pay any relevant import taxes etc?

I've had lots of parts from bob-yp in the past and never had to pay import duties - four NOS LC horns was one order so certainly more than £35.

A model kit from Japan did me...about £45 to buy here, £20 from them. Import and whatever meant the kit cost me £60. I was livid.

It will be a gift at 38 quid split into two packages
I don't want the poor fellow to be paying VAT and Import Tax

Hi Steve
I'm not sure to be honest, I don't ship this overseas much
It's mainly around Australia, for some poor fellow that doesn't have a part or parts that I do
I shall have look though

No duty then Steve It would seem that 'other' is included in the 'all other...' section. That means £15. Beware that in America Gift must have been tax free years ago as it seems any American sending you anything invariable says 'i'll mark it as a gift and it will be completely tax free'. As we know that is not the case, its 38 quid.

Marking an item as “send for repair and return” results in being taxed for the cost of the repair as declared on the repair invoice but not the value of the part itself.
Goods have to be registered on their way out of the country and then taxed on return.
This is what applies to Greece...

He repaired 2 PV controllers for both my 500s and added the adjustable dip switches so I can change the curves.
