Yes looks like a metal plate that has been glued on over the top, or made from chemical metal.

Only thing I can't decide is who stamped that engine number - was it Stevie Wonder or Ray Charles??
Shame really as otherwise it looks quite tidy.

What other horrors is the vendor trying to hide..... def one to miss, although it looks tidy enough.... shame that a dodgy dealer has effectively f**ked it up.

Hold on, hold on! Its been checked over by a professional race bike tech, do you really think they would be involved with a dodgy bike?

Hmm, nice try
Dodgy at best
Left hand top fairing mount leaves a lot to be desired too
It's been fettled alright, not, look at the cobwebs hanging off the rear wheel and chain cover

One of us could enlighten them and see if it’s a genuine mistake. After all WE all know the case should be ribbed, but do they? No wonder it’s matching numbers LOL. I do get what some have said earlier about not wanting to tell DVLA of an engine change, but why. The police won’t see it as anything less than a stolen engine if they can’t decipher the numbers underneath with acid or X-ray. If this is the reason why take the risk of them impounding the bike and scrapping the engine? Jon

If the original number cannot be deciphered by plod they will treat it as stolen whether it was or not. I don’t understand why anyone would do this to an engine that isn’t stolen? It can’t add that much to value to someone oblivious to it. If anything it devalues it to people in the know. Also there is no problem changing the number. It’s not like it’s hard or expensive. Jon
