Anyone got a decent pic of the type and location of the 2 or 3 clips that are mounted at the rear end of a 4L1/4L0 engine?
Also the function of each clip.
i have seen a few different variants/positions and would like to get it right. Sad i know.

Only 2 on a ypvs but remember a 3rd on the ac so maybe the same
Afaik it's left (sprocket side) is a flat metal strip that holds the crankcase breather pipe over to the sprocket area. It comes as a strip and you fold it over the pipe to hold in place
Centre is a metal right angled tab with a U shaped oblong wire off the end. The carb drains go through it and I stick the battery vent in there as well
RH side at the clutch cover is a tab that is NLA to hold the stator wire
No doubt oeb will stick a pic up shortly 😁

on the LC there is a clip that holds the stator wire, which is mounted on the 2nd bolt from the rear of the LHS barrel, its like an "n" shaped clip, then the flat clip on the rear bolt near the rear engine mounting for the breather, then the "U" shaped clip on the rear middle bolt I think for the carb drain pipes if I remember correctly, as Steve says, OEB will be along shortly with a nice picture I am sure

It's in the Haynes book of myths and legends. I only know this because I re-built my engine last week.
Will try and post a pic but me and flickr don't get on very well.

Thanks Mutts and Biffa. I just looked in Haynes and it adds to my confusion. On Page 70 I find this sketch that shows the funny S clip at bolt 15 position on RH side of the engine... but the isometric on Page 71 seems to contradict this as seems to show the S clip in the middle bolt 16 position.
So I'm still not so sure!

So I'm still not so sure! The first image is incorrect, it should fit on bolt 16, middle/rear of cases. Not the best photo but you can just make out the wire loop & can clearly see nothing attached to bolt 15. The carb overflow/drain hoses pass between the rear engine mounts, under the mounting bolt & down through the wire loop centrally located on the rear of the cases. OEB

Haha, just had a look and see what you mean.
Mines on 15, didn't even look at the page 71 drawing when I was putting it together.

Yes, I can see what you're saying now. It's on 16 but you can only see the end of the loop.
Just been and had a look and on 15 you can see the whole clip.
Guess what I'm doing tomorrow.

That clears that up and thanks for posting the drawing, I'll be running hoses and cables shortly.
