Hi all is it best to put the grey joint compound on both sides of the base gaskets when reinstalling the cylinders

Personally I fit them dry
A quality gasket need no sealant

I fit Yamaha ones dry, and smear grease on paper ones. Both seem to work fine.

After I blew one I fitted a new yamaha one with a smear of sealant and ok after a years running👍

The smear of grease also greatly helps with removal in the future.

I use a smear of clear gasket sealant ,you can reuse the clutch casing gasket if you do this
