hi to everyone on here I’m new to this forum and thought I’d say hello I’ve had bikes all my life from sports to plodders now into more of the 80s and 90s bikes I’ve got a Kawasaki klx 650cc 1995 and a rd125lc powervavle mk3 Which was the uk model no power valve motor cables etc but I’m now got all the bits to make it work bolted it all on but motor doesn’t do a self test the cdi unit is a 1gu so I’ve been reading as much as possible on here and what I can see it should have another power valve unit which goes into the back light unit where there’s a block connector to plug it into is this correct or have I done something wrong any help would be greatly appreciated ‘thanks Gary

Donno but had a klx 650 spent about 2k on it ,the most unreliable bike I've ever owned would start when it felt like it which wasn't often sold it for 500 quid to a mate he couldnt get it sorted either as far as I know it's still here some where it's been through 5 people and still not sorted I would think you might be right about the cdi unit poss being different as there is also a power valve controller on these and the mk2 drum and mk3 disk dt125lc ypvs on the continent running 12v systems could never understand why nobody put a dt125lc mk1 topend on an rd as I was getting 87mph out of a std dt with a 16t front sprkt on it back in the day and had so much midrange it would lift in 1st an 2nd no probs and 3rd if 15t sprkt was on.

Also I find cmsnl parts schematics are sometimes useful if you don't know where a part goes ,they sometimes give you a hint .

I know the feeling I’ve had the klx650 for a few years and when I bought it I’d start it up and if I touched the throttle it would cut out until it warmed up a bit then you could rev it when I striped the carb and found someone had put different jets in it so got a carb rebuild kit then played around when different main jets done float heights now it starts up straightaway let it tick over 10 seconds you can rev and pull away no problem been good since then maybe I was just lucky lol with the power valve control box does any other bike models fit as I can’t find a mk3 one at all thanks Gary

If I come across one will keep you in mind.
