Lads/Lasses, I recently watched James May’s programme “big trouble in model Britain” following the ailing Hornby/Scalextric/Airfix company. A chap on there who is a very experienced model builder, when showing the camera crew his acquired boxes of, as yet unmade model kits, came up with the following acronym, used in the modelling fraternity it’s : S.A.B.L.E. It stands for : Stash acquired beyond life expectancy.
Struck a chord it could be applied to our hobby of choice!!, I have so many ‘projects’ i’ll never finish them in my lifetime!! 🤣🤣🤣
Regards bezzer.

Didn’t see that will do catch up, it’s a big thing in the modelling world my stash which I have cut back on is still worth £3-4k just in kits and extras.

It’s still on BBC Iplayer Veg, definitely worth a view 👍🏻. Had no idea of the value of some kits, I only have 2, a Ducati 916 and LC obviously!. bezzer

And anyroad up, the last 10yrs stuff... she's paid for!! Mind you she had to twist my arm for me to catalogue it all as she said "I don't know a Norton gearbox from yam crankshaft And I don't want to be conned" (And I gave her a contact who can help with identifying things) Jeezus 60 f.in years an all I've got to show for it is a pile bits and a few old bikes!!!

I take the positive view... Approaching 60 and hope to be amongst those of you of similar age who make it into their 80’s That actually means 20+ years of messing with these old things on a much more regular basis than have been able too across the last 20 years..
So let’s not be worrying about the exit strategy yet ....

If you aren't going to use it, let some else have the opportunity to use it, you can't spend it when your gone, enjoy the time you have left with the money from the sales doing what you like, you never know whats round the next corner, life can change in an instant, enjoy it while you can guys, that's my moto.

I can only wear one pair of trousers at the same time but it’s nice to have a few pairs to choose from....( or should I say my wife has !) If bikes are your big hobby then it’s a personal decision how much of your ‘savings’ (if you are fortunate enough to have some ) are tied up in bikes and parts.
Key point is that this hobby is as much about a community as it is about the ownership of material things. My bikes and parts are not for my exclusive use. Accumulated to bring pleasure to me and others as and when.
I think the way the ‘wanted’ section works on here is best example of that.
