Can anyone tell me please if i use a multimeter on a rd250lc CDI unit should i get some kind of reading from it when disconnected from the bikes wiring loom?
i have the meter set on the lowest OHM's setting and no matter what order i put the probe's i am not getting any kind of reading??
could someone try and test there own known working CDI for me in case maybe there might not be any reading anyway??

AFAIK you can't test a CDI

Nope, you can't. Easiest way is to try another one. LC CDI's are generally very reliable so another good one shouldn't be too hard to find

West country windings can test them for a fee, however do you know anyone that may have a good spare the check?

Where are you in the country. I can still lend you my surplus one to try.

Now sorted guy's thanks...small brown wire had came away from the spade connector in the block , continunity check eventually picked it up...... just for future reference it appears you cannot actually test the CDI unit it all comes down to the multimeter resistance checks across the coils etc that when they are reading properly it basically boils down to the CDI being a problem ... basically a good spare or a known working unit from a friends bike is quicker and best ZiG
