Hi guys has anyone had experience of powder coating parts with rubber bushes fitted ? I’m restoring a Suzuki X7 and the frame has 6 rubber bushes for footrest and exhaust mounts . I’ve tried to remove them but they’re totally solid . ☹️ My question is will they melt int the powder coasters oven ? Thanks for any advice guys cheers pete 👍

I’d guess they’d melt, I’ve restored 3 X7’s, I blowtorch the rubbers then use a dremmel to cut a slit in them and then knock out.

Not sure the oven would be hot enough to melt them, but likley to cause a bit of a mess, during sand blasting and baking process. Not done an X7 but i would always strip the frame of all parts totally before sending to powder coaters.
I usually gently heat any rubbers using hot air gun to help remove them. Not had to burn them out yet as russpuss suggests but that is of course a suggestion for the stubborn ones.

There’s 4 in the frame for the exhausts and 2 in each footpeg making 8 total. The rubber bush is inside a very slim metal bush. I believe the oven goes to 400C, my coater always tells me to take them out, hence the burning and slitting of the outer slim metal bush, I have a 25t press that I tried but it rips the rubber out leaving you to slit the metal still. Why not send the footpegs for blast and coat 1st with them in to see what happens?

Another option is get the frame painted, which looks far better in my opinion
