Some may talk about a mid life crisis
Well I’m having a mid life service
Both my hips are going go be replaced in the next two months, so I’ll be out of action until the new year
I’ve essentially got egg shaped joints, with the pointy end of the egg in the hip socket, the surgeon tells me snd showed me I can’t adapt any more, I’ve torn the cartilage around the right hip joint so that one will be replaced first, 4 weeks later the left dide gets done
I’ve been told I will still be able to ride afterwards, I really hope so, I’m looking forward to riding my F1 thats being rebuilt
if anyone has any tips I’m all ears

Do as your told and definitely do the physiotherapy as instructed. Not had one personally but my Father In Law had his done and couldn't believe the difference after just a few weeks.

I’ve got an issue here, I rarely do as I’m told 😕
I’m always in the sh1t its just the depth that varies
Cheers guys
Funnily enough the ad below this reply is one for hip joints, how coincidental is that

I would think that the ad software picked up the text on the page and served the ad based on that, usually it gets it wrong or would put up an ad about something being hip so its novel it was reading it right really.
Anyway, Good luck mate and GWS.
(and yeah, I cant imagine you doing what youre told either. Hopefully next time we meet for beers this will all be a distant memory and you'll be running about as usual)

One of my customers had his done just after xmas and he is cycling 100 miles with no problems.
As has been said the physio is essential to get the best outcome. My mother in law didn't do the physio and ended up with more problems.

You will be fine Howard. Bloke at work was walking like there was a six inch nail in his foot. Now back at work after a new hip and he's as good as new. As said keep on the go and do all the excersises.

Two years ago i met an elderly gentleman called Mervyn at the Gedinne classic TT. He was dressed in black racing leathers and swearing a lot about his new hip playing up. I was there with my cousin who races a Triumph kneeler and he laughed and told me he just beat everyone and the op was not that long ago. They call him Mr Rudge.
I met him again this year last week end at the same place he is still beating everyone.
This is good proof that you will be still able to do what you like. I hope it goes well for you.

One down, 6 weeks to go before the next one
Sorry to say I wasn’t prepared for this amount of pain I can tell you
Surgeon said the hip was a mess took him twice as long to do the replacement
Apparently going home tomorrow if I can master the getting in and out of bed bit
Walking albeit tenderly

You'll be fine Howard. If you've seen open surgery you can appreciate why it hurts so much when the anaesthetic wears off. Pain killers just take the edge off it. It will still hurt like hell, I've been there!! It takes time. Few months from now, you'll be able to jump over a bus. GWS.

Too true on the pain killers Gary
Chasing the pain threshold isn’t fun as you will know
Thank you
Howard
