Can you guys confirm I'm right with this...
Top engine case and barrels - satin black
Clutch cover and head - gloss black
Also is the case engine number masked off so its still silver or painted black as well?

Satin black lightly (poorly) applied is OEM. That's what my new/old factory fresh bits (still in packagings) are Sprocket side case cover, being plastic is shiny.

Original 29l case was gloss
Later cases were satin
I've also had now 31k cylinders and they were gloss
The give away on the clutch case is the 29l yamaha disc on the clutch cover is gloss
The 4l0 is satin

Satin was standard on 4LOs. However, my engine is gloss black. It's a matter of personal preference. I think gloss looks great. Some will argue that satin is best and some will use their knowledge of physics to say that dull black surfaces are better emitters of heat (which of course is true) so satin is best.
