I went to refit the head back on to the motor this morning and the head gasket seemed of an odd construction to me. I came as part of a full engine kit by Athena but I have never come across this type before. It is made up of three layers held together with two small brass rivets front and rear. A bit of a bug*er fitting it past the studs on the barrels (springing all over the place) and by the look of it might need trimming for my 1.5mm over size pistons. It came from a very good source so I have no reason to doubt how good it will work but would ask the forum if they have used these before or had any issues with them. I halted spannering without fitting the head and I am leaning toward getting a gen Yam one, though I don't know what they are like either as this is my very first ypvs motor build. Any advice gratefully received John

The gen Yam one is the same 3 layer construction so no difference there
You should be on the limit but ok at 1.5mm. Measure the hole in the head gasket.
I thought you only had to trim gaskets and pv's at 1.75 - 2.00mm

Thanks Steve
I feel a bit better now I have read this. Spannering is halted for the day now but I will get some measuring done later and update once the head is back on
Cheers
