Hi guys, after fitting flywheel back on the ypvs today I noticed a clicking sound coming from the crankcase while turning it over by hand, really not sure what it is, everything is turning smoothly like it should. would a half moon clip slip around if worn? that's what it sounds like or a bearing peg but i'm sure there would be movement from a bearing peg Any suggestions? cheers

Half moon clip should not move at all with the engine turning, certainly if only turned by hand, as it is fitted to the outer race of the main bearing which will not turn unless the cases are badly worn and the bearing is spinning. This would make a bit more noise than a "click" Is the rotor on tight and correctly fitted onto the woodruff key? Have you rebuilt the motor recently and maybe dropped something small and metallic into the crankcase? If cylinders are fitted you may get a click from worn piston rings in the piston grooves at TDC and BDC? Need more info I think

The rotor is on correctly, I have recently rebuilt the engine with new crank and using wosner pistons so all new stuff, the noise is at BDC when the flywheel is turned clockwise, but not a full stroke just a flick, I know this is the wrong rotation but its very noticeable when turned like this, it does do it as well when turned in the correct rotation but its not as loud. I used a screwdriver to have a listen around the engine and its coming from the crankcase

If it was mine, and it definitely sounded internal, then it would have to come apart again I'm afraid Dusty

Pull the rotor and primary off first then see how it sounds

Are you running k-n type air filters with the metal backs because they’ve been known to cause resonance

and fitted wire on ,fitted all other wires to right colours on loom, tried to start bike but would not fire up,took black wire off stator, fired up missfire with backfire then cut out ,earthed wire to frame with no difference not sure where it went wrong but have no idea what to do next, fitted new stator due to lights only working off battery but engine ran fine

You have asked this question in a separate thread which is fine but it will be missed by many of the more knowledgable members on the forum. Start a separate thread with this and I am sure you will get a number of good responses from the troops John
