Thinking of changing the original pipes on my 4l0 for set allspeed, thinking of bare metal small can and getting them cerakote treatment as he no longer does black chrome ,or if anyone knows who does black chrome or has had cerakote done how good is it Haven't rang him yet so don't know waiting time on them ,looking on forum seems to be a while or has it improved,,going more for the look rather than hp,just always liked the small can allspeed. The only other ones that I like are mutts nutts ones ,he rebuilt my engine so no questioning the quality of pipes ,if anyone has a few pics of his on an Elsie would be much appreciated.

I love small can Allspeeds on an Lc - very much "of their time" and old skool cool, and they look and sound great; 20171012_143011 by dusty miller, on Flickr Mutts' pipes in stainless are great too - light, well made and sound a bit like old bean can Microns to me. Plus you get performance gains and a faster delivery time. Just depends on the "look" you want to achieve; 20190325_163426 by dusty miller, on Flickr Dusty

Thanks dusty, never mind the pipes I am drooling over those bikes ,stunning machines, slightly off topic what forks are they in second pic I love the rwu forks and fact you have been able to retain std wheel ,this is also something I would love to do ,was their much involved in getting that front end to work, back on topic yeah still leaning towards allspeed but want to have them in some format of black.

Fzr600 Foxeye forks and yokes, and a hell of a lot of work to get them to fit. I didn't do it - whoever did was either an engineer or was very good friends with one !! There are easier front ends for sure. Dusty

Thanks ,also just spoke to metmachex about swingarm ,choice of eccentric or slot as you have both ,do you have preferences of which one is better, they suggest that slot one is more popular.

Definitely slot adjusters. The eccentrics aren't that accurate in my experience, plus they change your ride height every time you adjust the chain. Dusty

IMO double that 3 weeks.
Nice pipes though, I love mine.
Mine have TZ style bolt on end cans so are halfway between noisy small cans and quiet large cans.

triple that 3 weeks. They are nice pipes, but, my 125 one i got fouls the center stand and the mounting springs rub the top of the belly pan. Bit annoying after over 4 month wait and just short of £400

Allspeeds every time for me. No performance gain but no need to change the jetting either. Lighter than stock pipes. Centre stand can stay on. Look and sound fantastic.

Yes can’t beat look and sound of a classic Allspeeds , just the rite pipe for a period lc.

Back in the air cooled days round my way virtually everyone had allspeeds including me on my KH250. Then 2 of my mates bought brand new X7’s and one had Microns. For me that was the best sound and if they made replicas today that’s what I’d go for. I recently bought some of mutts pipes and it was Dusty on one of his threads saying they sounded like Microns that swung it for me. And I’m not disappointed.

IMO :-) All speeds AKA 'No speeds' are imposters. Certainly Look like Chambers but perform much like factory Yama silencers. IF these were inexpensive ? Wouldn't be any sort of an issue.. would it. However one can buy genuinely excellent, proven performance Pipes from a couple of (forum) members that Do perform and actually look better. Not a difficult choice imo.

As said if performance isn’t your main concern, then they are nice pipes.
While the fully tapered lobster back downpipes of performance exhausts look trick, I think the smooth bend of tubular downpipes on Gibson’s really suit a standardish LC. The simple smooth lines work well, it’s a very simple design.

I hate having to say this, but I agree with Bare! Now I have some Gibson's, they do look the nuts, suit the lines of the bike well, are period looking pipes, and do give that classic sound, but, and its a big but .... they cost far too much for the performance they do or do not add, and the waiting time is atrocious. Given the choice again I'd go another route, TSA or the ones Dave (mutts) has developed, more gain and a better cost ratio.

Found a couple of videos - 1 is Allspeeds on an Lc, the other is Dave's all round performance pipes on an Lc. The only problem with a vid is you don't get the true sound - when I listen back there is some element of the sound lost. Both sets of pipes sound better in real life. I guess you get about 80% of the real sound via the vid. Dave's pipes have a deeper sound than the Allspeeds - you can notice it in the vid, but it's more so in real life, and they sound more like an old skool Micron than an Allspeed. A shorter can may affect that sound though. 1st, Allspeeds; 20171022_113849 by dusty miller, on Flickr And Dave's; 20190309_100519 by dusty miller, on Flickr I love both type of pipes to be honest. Allspeeds are old skool and sound and look great, and really suit an Lc for looks imo. Lighter than a standard pipe, plus not normally needing up jetting, and keep the centre stand. Dave's are lighter than Allspeeds, easily polished up in stainless, look and sound great, and look great on an Lc ! I believe they keep the centre stand - I didn't have one fitted, plus I'm fairly sure no jetting changes required. Any pipe/intake change may need some carb tweaks, or may not - all bikes are different, and only a dyno run will truly give an accurate assessment. I had to upjet my Allspeeds on a 400e years ago, so it does vary. Anyway, hope the vid helps Dusty
