That means they are half the price as the ones from Fowler’s I would need to see it myself before risking it

Any chance that a Chinese copy has copied the lettering/numbers as well ? My daughter has a very convincing designer handbag that says "Louis Vuitton" on the side, in the correct style and font, but it was £50 and not 5k ! Buy genuine Yamaha from a genuine Yamaha dealer and you cut the risk Blimey - I'm turning into Bare !! Dusty

I still get my crank seals from partzilla. Not much difference in price to Australia. Maybe even cheaper.

I get mine form Partzilla Ken... Its called Peace of Mind. Its worth much more than the cost saving of pattern seals That said, I have used (non Yambits) pattern seals from Vitos and other big players over the years and theyve been fine, but these days I only use gen Yam on the crank.

Look at the potential nightmare I could have had with pattern seals.

Fcuking hell. It's true. I can say beyond a shadow of doubt, they are the same. Same FFP (or whatever) makers mark on the Yambits seals as the genuine Yamaha seals that arrived from Partzilla this afternoon. Not a big job considering the engine was on the bench and I just had to pull off the clutch and charging system, but Hey Ho more time (and $40) wasted. I'll be able to put this damn thing together with my eyes closed by the time I'm done with it

I don't see that as money wasted. Peace of mind is easily worth the time and relatively small cost for such an important part. I remember the first Lc engine rebuild thread I did on here. I had Ypvs style pistons in Lc barrels. Left the tang on the pistons as I'd been told it was ok. Then guys started posting their experiences, and how they believed the tangs snagged the inlet port - it's unbridged on the Lc - and that put a seed of doubt in my mind that quickly germinated !! So, off came the top end and off came the tangs ! More time and money but so glad I did it. And it was the guys that did the rebore that told me they never had a problem with Pv pistons in Lc's, and they've done thousands, so they would know, but for my peace of mind, and my anal retentiveness , I cut them off anyway. I sold the bike to a good friend, and it's been trouble free, so that makes me happy !! Dusty

This is my Ypvs engine when I stripped it. Apart from the fact the crank seal has been fitted the wrong way round, check out the small circular spring that has been detached from the seal lip. This was a low miles crank and a pattern seal. Never seen that with well used Yam seals, so if in doubt, pull em out !! 41009693450_d856d55785_k by dusty miller, on Flickr Dusty

It's true.
Top end is 3000 miles away in South Florida (literally the diagonally opposite corner of the USA from me), so no time lost really.
Now I know, and peace of mind truly is priceless.
Should be noted that the Yambits output shaft seal was much different to the genuine Yam one. Just looked lower quality overall, and the rubber was def less "rubbery".

Heaps of piston, needle rollers etc everywhere. In the pipe , crushed into the head etc. Nearly broke my heart. also twisted the crank a bit.
