I've had a go at fabricating some shims today, I knew that there were two versions/shapes of pads used on these bikes over the years, when Yamaha dealers still sold shims, did you have a choice of two or did they make sure that the original one were a 'universal' fit for both style of pads? Looks like EBC FA070 pads would be for my caliper as opposed to FA064 then. ebcbrakesdirect.com/motorcycle/partno/fa070ebcbrakesdirect.com/motorcycle/yamaha/rd-350-lc/1980/38481Another thing that I've learnt today, my calipers don't have a small spring sandwiched between the caliper mounting bracket and the caliper itself, there isn't any locating hole for said spring. Anyone know what the two caliper mounting bracket bolts should be torqued to? These are not even listed in the Haynes manual or list of of torque figures that I printed off from a thread on here.

The later calipers (FA70) did not have the spring or locating hole between the caliper body & hanger bracket. OEB
