Are lc parts getting out of hand ? set of lc clocks on ebay just sold for £300 without bottom cover and 41k on odometer !! Must be getting to point where a bike broken for bits its worth more than a complete good one?Trying to build a 250lc myself thought i payed a fair price for a rolling chassis and engine but to finish this to somewhere near original spec, think it would be cheaper just to buy a complete one .

It's a tricky one
I hear what you are saying but my parts guy is seeing the other side of the coin
He used to be able to bring a good lc in and break it for a healthy profit but now nice complete bikes are pricey so it getting near a break even point
I'd say buy a complete bike as a lot of parts are either trash or ridiculously priced
As you say £300 for a set of clocks that you will want to spend another £100 on new covers 🙄

Looking at the state of our dollar we'll be seeing parts prices rise here soon as you lot start shopping abroad again :/

It's better to buy as complete a bike as possible - has been for a long time, what with parts prices the way they are. It's the initial outlay on a complete bike that steers people towards incomplete projects, but they invariably cost a lot more in the long run. Available funds normally dictate which route you take - in my experience anyway !! And £300 for a set of clocks is just mental Maybe we should all move to Canada - Lc's are as cheap as chips over there apparently !! Although, chips aren't cheap anymore either !! Dusty

Dusty LC and RZ prices are rising in Canada, and RZ prices are thru the roof here in the States. Sheds are fetching $3k and nice complete original bikes are knocking on $7k. I managed to stumble upon a complete but unloved LC here in the States for $1700 and felt I had won the fcuking lottery.

£300 may be mental dusty, but the way thinks are going with lc's its only going to get worse! these bikes are a proper cult status and i think prices are already starting to reflect this.Even the cheaper bikes from europe and other countries are now creeping up in price as other cotton on to the demand

The "cheap in Canada" reference was a nod to Bare, and how he tells us how cheap they are over there !! I don't doubt there aren't too many places left in the world, if any, where you can pick up a decent Lc/Pv for cheap money. The good ol' internet has seen to that. £300 for used Lc clocks with no guarantee of condition is mental. Especially when the same item was £100 just a few years ago. It's supply and demand. I'm not surprised they made big money but it's still madness. We all get caught up in it at times for sure. It's a bit like house prices. Doesn't do any of us any good in the long run Dusty

I don't mind paying for good spares. There is a lot garbage out there at big prices and is mostly only fit for the bin. Decent prices and good s/hand parts are out there...just be careful. The more complete the bike the better..... I have no connection to Moist on here...but have had some spot on deals off his ebay site.

Those clocks for £300, didn't have the back case, bracket or headlight adjuster, so can add another £100 to that at least. Personally I like buying the projects or just starting with a frame, it may cost more in the long run, but you don't need to shell out five or six grand at a time, and I find that building them is very enjoyable, if a little frustrating having to wait for certain parts. Plus you get the bike you want at the end.

Yes, i`ve recently bought an ex proddie racing LC250 which i fetched home in bits in my car. I`m not prepared to go into debt with my bikes so buy what I can afford when I have saved to buy what I need. I have bought a loom from Germany £200, switches which need refurbing a tail light needing the same. I still need loads of parts but will have to get them when I can. some parts like the clocks are ridiculous prices but what about number plate holders. £200 for a piece of moulded plastic. some bits like the back mudguard are supplied by Norbo and are keenly priced. others like chain guards airbox top halfs etc are hard to find. I enjoy finding parts, refurbing them and building a bike from the ground up, but this LC is going to take a while.
