My mates drilled out his ball bearings in his carb and has asked me what “glue” do you use to stick them back in?
Sounds abit odd as I thought they’d just knock new ones back in?

I use a but of threadlock but I reckon a bit of loctite or araldyte is just as good.

I usually put a bit of loctite on finger and thumb and roll them around a bit before tapping in.
Don’t use too much just a light smear or you risk blocking the airway you’ve just cleaned out.

You can thread the hole with a M5 bottom tap and then fit a brass grubscrew to make it easier to remove it next time.

Some people fit new balls, but some refit the drilled ones so they can get em out again without drilling...
I just use a tiny bit of loctite and be careful not to smash em in, they might go in too deep.

My locktight did not withstand petrol. It is just gone. I installed new brass 4.5mm ones. I had to tap them in. The snug fit is ok without locktight.

Hi Marcel. I first did the brass balls last August when I was having running problems. I last did them again a couple of months ago as I was still having issues. The resin was fine but I don’t doubt that over a longer period of time it may well effect it. I’ll just have have to keep an eye on them. Steve

I used a blue thread lock. I dont know which componants are in. But after 300km it was gone. But balls still fit.

Interesting... while the 'inside' of the ball sees fuel, the outside shouldnt see much at all as its on the air side so its not continually covered in it.
I might peen over the edges of the alloy very lightly now just to be sure, but I dont see these dropping out as theyre a good fit even without any 'glue'.

This effectively bottoms out the balls, so it can’t go too deep unless you really force it. You’re right about the outside loctite no seeing petrol. I put a thin smear on insertion, then a drip on the ball. This puddles towards the outer of the ball and carb body. There is some kind of green paint/sealant on originals isn’t there? Jon

Jon You may well be right, Im not 100% all carbs Ive done had it tho as some went in further than others with only a gentle tap :/ I'd not noticed anything on the originals, but paint would be as good as anything else to seal and stick etc.
