Hi im trying to work out which way the clutch cable fits. There appears to be two clamps for the cable on top of the crankcase. i presume that the cable comes down the left hand side and mounts opposite the actuating arm. It has a retainer on top to keep it in place. What I can’t work out is what the clamp is for on the opposite side next to the clutch arm. I don’t see how that can have anything to do with the cable as it is on the wrong side. I can’t find any pictures or diagrams showing how this is supposed to work although it is listed as a clutch cable retaining clamp. I must be doing something wrong. Can anyone help or advise please?

One clamp just holds the actuating arm down The other holds the cable down and the stator wiring

Thanks Yogi I’m still confused. Is there any chance you could post a picture so I see how it goes. Thanks Paul

The cable comes round the right side as you sit on the bike The inner cable goes on the actuating arm and the outer on the u shape casting with the clamp bolted over the top
I’ll put a pic up tomorrow if your still stuck

Thanks for the pic. No wonder I’m confused. I have the clamps the wrong way round. That’s why it didn’t work. It’s difficult when working from scratch without anything to compare to. Thanks for your help guys. 👍👍👍

Cable comes from the perch, through the cut out in the ignition surround of the clock cover and down the right side of the headstock.
Then in the corner of the infill panel, down the right side frame tube and to the mounting point
I was looking at an old parts list the other night getting ready for my next engine build and it showed a clip like on the air cooled biked to hold the stator wire to a bolt on the right side
That never made it to any bike I've seen no matter how original and untouched
