Are the nyloc nuts that hold down the YPVS cylinders flanged? and if so, are they serrated or smooth?
cheers

Smooth and flanged, don't think they are nylocs though.

I don’t use nylocs on barrels it’s too hot and melts the nylon

Cheers, it's my first YPVS engine build and I started with just a set of damaged cases. It looks like this now, but with the top clutch bearing fitted.. 20190415_200138 wang

Oh yes, the two halves aren't sealed yet, waiting for some bolts etc.
What did I do wrong with the pic, How do you just insert it without the link?

It’s awkward but press bbcode then highlight the code until copy comes up,click copy Click on the forum, paste it ,then remove all text back to url and it should then work
I might put another thread on how to from an iPad

If you buy M8 flanged nuts from ebay or similar they are likely to be a 13mm spanner/socket rather than the 12mm Yam ones.

Seem to remember buying new then having to replate them We need someone to cnc some 12mm ss flanged ones 😎 Steve

What difference does it make between the 12 and 13mm nuts?

What difference does it make between the 12 and 13mm nuts? 12mm is JIS (Japanese Standard) 13mm is ISO (international Standard - based in Switzerland I think) Either will stop your barrels falling off. I've had stainless 13mm plain nuts with washers on for the last 12 years. No probs.

What difference does it make between the 12 and 13mm nuts? Nothing from a functional point Just the fact that the torque wrench adaptor to torque them correctly is 12mm Steve

I bought 8 of these few weeks ago. they are dark olive, flanged and NO nyloc. From fowlers. While i'm here id love to know how you torque barrel nuts down. Can only get on the inner back 2 at best, outer rears and all fronts inaccessible

I had a special spanner from NK years a go that you put a torque wrench on the end and converts it that way but just a faff so just snugged them up and re checked a few times after heat cycles

I use stainless m8 rod connectors cut to the length of the exposed stud (with a washer underneath), looks far better than having the threads showing, I do the same on exhaust studs,no good if you want originality though.
