Had a look but couldn’t find the post I was looking for ,there was a thread not long ago about coolant and corrosion protection ,the RG has the cylinder bolts in the waterways so I’m looking for a coolant that won’t rot them any suggestions .

It's mostly about which materials are used isn't it, alloy or steel head for example.
OAT or HOAT seems to be aimed at the newer vehicles and you certainly shouldn't mix it with the older coolant. Motul do do one that can be mixed and used in any coolant system they say.

There is waterless coolant available now,not read up about it but surely if it doesn’t have water then it won’t corrode. Worth some investigation maybe.👍👍ewan

Just use whatever yam recommends for the tzr/tdr as they had studs in the cools t
I think any "old" style coolant would be fine as they usually have a corrosion inhibitor for cast iron blocks

The Evan's waterless coolant was slated on YouTube by Matt who does the workshop. Did longterm tests on it🙄

Interesting article👍 I found 3 different 5Lcans. All are glycol based and -26C premixed. 2 are blue 1 is green. I can not find any info about inorganic or organic corrosion inhibitors. The green one recomments complete change every 2 years, can be used for topping up existing coolant. Blue ones both -26C and alu suitable. One says change every 2 years. The other blue one points at the car manufacture instructions. Better save then sorry. Only topping up with the same can.

Hi guys, a while since I posted on the forum. But spring is coming and I getting my LC ready so better get back into biker mode and RDLC forum mode.
I work in engine R&D and have done some work on the coolants and run test engines with both. We are using OAT (pink colour) in our engines on test, but what I can say from what I have seen is that the OAT coolant is even more searching for leaks than regular types. The older blue/green type will if the weep is only minor crust up around a leak and usally stop. It seems the OAT will creep past hose clips and and fittings screwed into the engine and never 'self heal'.
Alex.
