Just a quick couple of questions, will an older FZR tacho work on a 31k, or does it need to be from a 2 cyl bike? I'm using FZR clock housings on my Hybrid and wondered if I can just use that tacho. And which wire is the take off to run and electronic tacho??
Thanks. Phil

Sorry, saw this late last night and forgot to message this morning
The ypvs tacho does not use a pulse, it uses the pv signal so won't work I'm afraid
Also the rd's use a wasted spark so if you took a pulse signal from the coil for a 4t tacho it would show double the rpm as 2 pulses per rev instead of 1
If you have a Zeel or an ignitech fitted these have a 1 pulse per rev signal on them which could drive a 4t tacho

Thanks Steve, so would a TZR one work? And isn’t just a case of taking a wire from the CDI somewhere? Or I see you mention coil!
Thanks, Phil

If you want an elec tacho on an lc2 you can use an f/n/r/tzr2ma rev counter with the power taken from the temp gauge and the trigger from the signal wire from cdi to pv controller
Some later 2 strokes use a combined cdi/oh controller so signal is a pulse from the coil
Later tzr's and the 3hm1 rz250 are like this

Cheers Steve. I’ll keep an eye out for one, shame as I like the position of the needle on the FZR tacho. There’s a couple of TZR ones on eBay at the mo.

I likes the far needle position too
I did make one up once with an fzr face and ypvs guts
